Hurricane update

Smoke from Ohio...

The coastie type folk like to brag about where they live...good old boring Ohio seems pretty nice lately.

Was there a "Which khuk is best for cutting your way through your attic ceiling so you can wait on the roof for the boat/helicopter to take you away" thread? :(

Those poor people. :( :(

Could have used a khuk back in '92 for sure Donut. The morning after hurricane Andrew I had to get a tree off my little Ford Ranger pickup. At first I was dismayed, but as I got to looking closer realized the tree fell in such a way that it not only did very little damage to my truck, it's branches actually cradled the Ranger in a way that it was protected from the horrible mangling inflicted on surrounding vehicles. Don't believe in circumstance, been a bit of a "tree hugger" ever since. God watches out for fools and children, I'm long since out of childhood.

Could have made good use of an 18" AK or 20" Siru, but all I had was my old AG Russel combat bowie that I carried in Desert Storm. So, after thanking God, and the tree, I set to work. The little black truck emerged with nothing more than a bent antenna, a busted wiper arm, and some interesting ripple dents in the roof of the cab. I never did get those dents fixed, left 'em there as a reminder.

Poor people is right. For those that survived, and thank God so many did, their ordeal is just beginning. Everything flooded but no water to drink, food hard to come by, no relief from the heat or the hordes of mosquitoes, and then it gets really bad. In the aftermath of Andrew most folks armed themselves to fend off looters and other crazies who knew calling 911 wouldn't do you any good. Otherwise sane individuals broke out into fist fights after standing in lines for hours just to get a bag of ice or a jug of water. If it sounds like I'm painting a gloomy picture you're right. A lot of good folks are doing a lot of good things to help out, but bottom line the people in the affected areas are going to have a pretty tough row to hoe for some time to come. I'll keep them in my prayers.
