I really like the look of this axe.

What is this axe designed for.

Does anyone have one, does it work as well as a say small forest axe.

Some of these are off-set to one side rather the the blade being centered. otherwise balance would be the only concern i can think of

I don't have these axes, but I'd say it works even better than the small forest axe, for carpentry purposes that is (but not for forest use). The head is heavier (2.2 pounds) on a shorter handle. Sounds like it's designed for shorter, straighter strokes, and choking up on the handle when needed. The blurb from Husqvarna:

"...the Carpenter's axe is best suited for carpentry and other wood work. The axe has a straight cutting edge used for whittling and carving... constructed so that the hand gets as close as possible to the cutting edge for maximum control...Weight: 2.2 lbs. (1 kg)"

The blurb for the Huqvarna Traditional Multipurpose Axe:
"The All-round axe is best suited for felling smaller trees and limbing logs...
Length: 26" Weight: 1.87 lbs. (0.85 kg)"
(the list price is $4 more than the Carpenters axe)

It depends if you are car camping or packing in. Around camp the forest axe is amazing. It's a bit large to pack in. Packing, you won't need to process that much wood and a hatchet should be fine. Where I go camping there is always plenty of dead fall, and firewood can be collected by hand. Using a tree break is quicker than a hatchet on 3" logs. Put one end between two trees and break it. Firewood!

Look at Vaughn to see a lesser quality Carpenters Rigging axe.
The Vaughn is used for rough framing, and was used in California for Oil Rig construction

I just purchased a Wetterlings Carpenters Axe.
It looks the same as you show.
I wanted the straight edge for more bushcraft stuff
More control in cutting lenghtways

But it is heavier than the Small hunting 19" axe by at least a 1/2 pound

I have not played with it yet
