Hi everybody, I've been lurking over here and learning quite a bit but this is my first thread. After reading some reviews and comments, I decided to give the Husky a try. Thought it would be a nice size for limbs and to use in paddle camp.

Fresh out of the box.

Overall not too bad. This one is the Hultafors manufactured model and they did a good job. Fit up was nice and although not quite a GB not too shabby. It came with no finish on the handle (which is fine with me) and a couple of rough spots that needed sanding. Some grind / tooling marks were evident on the head. It was well mounted and the grain was comparable to Wetterlings and GB.

I sanded the handle and gave it a few coats of a 50/50 mix of BLO and mineral spirits. Soaks in well and gives it a nice feeling satin finish. Cleaned up the grind a bit and sharpened it up.

I hot waxed the mask and added a keeper. Probably didn't need one but I don't want it slipping off.

Seems balanced well and it's a handy length. It's thin profile should work well for light felling and limbing but I'll have to see how it will do splitting. Hopefully will get a chance to get it out in the woods tomorrow for a workout. Well worth the 65 bucks I think.

$65? oh hells yeah.
What's the length on that haft and the advertised weight on that head, Trade?
That's a really good-looking tool.

Wetterlings stopped putting steel wedges in their smaller axes, I wish the other makers would follow suit.
Husky axes are made by Hultafors Bruks aren't they?

It measures 26" overall Daizee. The weight is listed anywhere from 1.75 to 2 pounds. I'm not crazy about the round steel wedge either.

I like mine. It does pretty well for a 1.75lb head. The only problem I've had is the handle started cracking on me. It's a good deal on a good piece of steel.

that's a good lenght for a head that size. nice balance.

This morning I bucked up a big maple limb that a storm blew down. It's an awesome little axe. Really, really like it.

Good looking axe, Trade.

I got the Wetterlings in that same size, and have really enjoyed using it. I think the 26 inch length is just right.

Nice axe and a good deal. I have one of the older ones made by Wetterlings. Very similar. Its a nice set up. Mine rides in the truck quite a bit, for just in case.

Those are some fine looking axes.
They're very similar to the GB forest axe which I have and really do like.
