I was looking at purchasing an Axe for my brother in law for x-mas (previous post) but then I found out that he already had one. I then discovered that he did not own a hatchet yet so that is what I ended up getting him.

Here are some pictures of the Husqvarna Hatchet that came in today for him. I am pretty impressed with it and may order one for myself as they are a bit cheaper then the Wetterlings and much cheaper then Gransfors. The sheath would suit my taste more if it had a strap then went around the head but for the price I do not want to be to picky ;)

looks like a nice axe, looks very even and clean and well put together.

i will have to keep these in mind for next time i need a new axe...

Husqvarna had a promo if you bought a new chainsaw of so big, they would give you a hatchet. So it only will cost $400 plus tax for a free hatchet. My local saw shop was out of hatchets, dang nab it. like are a nice looking tool, Pat

This axe are forge in a axe press same as a Gb axe and it´s made buy
Hults Bruk. So it´s the same as a AGDOR axe but with out paint.

Thanks! I just got my Ebay-sourced Husqvarna hatchet (it goes well with my SM610! Ha ha!) I think I was mistaking the drop forge die marks for casting die marks. In any case it's a hefty hatchet, never mind it matches my motard!

Thanks, cegga for the name Hults Bruk. I saw it on this site but could not remember it. I saw that same Husky hatchet (I would call it a hand axe) at a hardware, free with the purchase of a Husky chainsaw. Asked the guy how much just for the axe, and he said $40. I asked what the HB stood for, and he said, Husqvarns, but now, thanks to cegga, I know it is Hults Bruk. By the way, I just got a Wetterlings felling axe from Smoky Mountain Knife Works for $40. They list 5 models from little to big and from 30-40 bucks. Their belt sheaths and blade covers seem a bit better, too. Trouble is, they sell out as quick as they get them in. I had to wait like a vulture, swearing to get the first one they had in stock, no matter which. Other sites had my $40 axe for $75. Visit eknifeworks.com. but you must be persistant to get a Wetterlings. They have Gransfors Bruks all day long, starting at about $150.
