Hybrid Burners

They are the best. Rex is also a super guy. I had emailed him a question about the T-Rex Burner and he ended up calling me and we were on the phone an hour or more.

Never heard anything but good comments about his burners and customer service. I'm too cheap to buy things I can make.

Being afraid of the dangers of any of our tools isn't a bad thing, it'll keep you careful. I've never been hurt by a tool I'm afraid of lol

yes, if you opt to buy a burner then thay are great. but i must say that forced air is where its at no ifs ands or buts. there is no limit to the btu's you can get from one. the onley thing that will deturmin your max btu output is your blower and mine is a vac motor connected to a verac. i can melt iron in a one brick forge using it. there is just so much control and power that why would you want any thing else.

i actually had a bad customer response/service from rex's company there. I had origianlly emailed him a question about his burner i wanted to purchase. he promply emailed back the answer i was looking for and i replied back that lets make the deal and proceed with the purchase. That was followed up with no response. 2 weeks go buy and i send new email saying i wanted to proceed with purchase and asked how he wanted to be paid. get response saying will be approx month wait for item and contact him back in month. Month goes buy i email and want to purchase item. No responnse. week later another email, no response. approx 6-8 months later i get a email from rex asking if i wanted to proceed with what we had talked about so many months ago. at that point i wasnt interested anymore and moved on , his product looks good and i wanted one but it just didnt wortk out. Its possible i just fell threw the cracks and i relize this happens but with so many follow up emails i find it hard to believe that is it.

I have a T-Rex in my otherwise homemade forge- 8 inch pipe, 14 long, one inch ceramic wool, ITC coating. I can forge at 5 PSI, will run at 2 PSI. It will get up to forging heat in about 5 minutes. I have never had any problems with it.

Funnily enough mine just arrived in the mail, so i cant tell you much about it other than it looks very well made. I mainly bought one out of curiosity more than anything. Rex's service was good in my case. what i am wondering though is what size pipe to use for he forge body 8"dia or 10"? cheers!

As for pipe diameter, it gets my drum forge (yes, an entire 50 gal. drum, see Don Fogg's site) up to 1500 degrees with minimal time and lbs. of propane. Even then, I have to be careful not to jump to 1600 or above. It will handle a 8-12" diameter pipe like nothing.
