I've been looking high and low for a 97OT Buzz Saw Trapper for a while now, and have eBay set to notify my when it sees one. This morning, I had an alert in my Inbox, but what I found wasn't what I expected.

There are about a dozen auctions up now for what looks to be made from mixed parts: the blade stamps say "97OT", but the handles are the Uncle Henry bone with bolsters at both ends, like the old 97UH.

While I'm still looking for that #$%^& 97OT, these would make nice users: OT carbon-steel blades, plus the prettier UH handles. Betting they won't be around for long, either, so you might wanna grab one while you can.

I got one of these from SMKW last week, part of the final run closeout they are running. At 12.99 you should grab a couple. Just so you know, the main blade is stamped "stainless" on mine, not even the usual Schrade+, just stainless. You might want to check with the seller to see how the ones he has are stamped, I got a feeling that there is going to be some variety in the stampings found on these last minute knives. Who knows?, maybe his does have carbon steel blades, that wouldn't surprise me either.

The photos include close-ups of the blade stamps. A couple are marked "Schrade+", but some are just marked "Schrade / 97OT". I've got the last Schrade catalog, and the one in the catalog doesn't look at ALL like the 97OT I see on eBay.

I gotta admit, I might be wrong; the blades might just be stainless/Schrade+, rather than carbon. Not sure why they'd be marked 97OT, though.... color me confoozled!

Lots of new faces (screen names) here, so maybe some of you don't recall UHFan's (she was a former employee) telling us how in the final days of Schrade, they were putting stainless blades on OT knives to save a few bucks, not thinking the consumers would notice. She assured them they would. Debbie, have I got that right?

Me 3!
THere are blades mixed in different handles so that you will find all kinds of mutts. I've seen lots of OT blades in UH handles. Sorta Schrades UH and OT E.O.D.
