Does anyone have a small hydraulic cylinder and pump you don't need. I need it to make a kydex press and just haven't had any luck finding anything. Need it to have atleast 8" of movement and would prefer a fast double acting cylinder. Thanks folks!

I don't have one, but how would an air cylinder work? It should be faster, and if you already have compressed air it would be cheaper. Heck, it might even be cheaper if you if you had to buy a small compressor and tank. A 4" cylinder would give you 1256 pounds of force at 100 psi. Just a thought. If this might work for you, I'll check around our warehouse at the plant and see if I can come up with one.

Steve, that was actually my first thought but I lost hope after not being able to find a cylinder with a large enough piston and throw. I sure would appreciate any help you can give me!!

Don't have a hydrolic cylinder, but I may have a cheaper alternative for you. I have been making kydex sheaths ever since I have been making knives. [about 13 years] I have always used one of those inexpensive[as little as $20] arbor presses. The one that I use is a 1/2 ton modle from Harbor Freight. I removed the circular, notched bottom plate and fabricated a foam covered block for the base and the ram of the press. Use a wrench to tighten one of the adjustment screws to lock the ram and you arein business. Like I said, this same press has searved me well for a long time with no trouble at all. Good luck!
