hydraulic press question

My buddy has a 8 ton hydraulic press he doesn't use and is giving it to me. Is it enough pressure to press a freshly forged billet flat? I've got so much junk, I don't need anymore unused stuff taking up space. Trying to pare down, but I'd also like to be able to produce flatter billets. Never used a press before.

it's a 20 ton press. It's the free tool thing that gets me every time!

Depends on what kind it is.If it is a bottle jack perss it is of little use to you.If it is a hydraulic ram press with a big enough motor,and fast enough ram,then it will work.

What size billets? What type of steel? It can work depending on how it is set up. What are the specs on the cylinder and the power unit? I'll do some calculations if you give me some more information
