Hydraulic Press

I just pickup a Enerpac press used, it has a air hydraulic pump generates 10000 psi ( I was told ?) the cylinder is only a 5 ton capacity. Would anyone know if I attached a 20 ton cylinder to the pump, would the pump be sufficient in activating the cylinder to 20 ton? It is a Pa series. Went to the web site it did help.

Sorry,it would not do much.It is rated at 5 tons , itmight pull a little more but not 20 tons. Dave

Dave: Only the cylinder is rated a 5 ton. The pump is a seperate unit which generates 10000 psi.

To find out what the cylinder will press, find the area of the inside of the cylinder in square inches (3.14 x dia.) and multipy that times the 10000 psi. That will give you the approx. pressure generated by the cylinder.
