Hyper and M type long term reviews?

I haven't seen any long term reviews for either of these knives. For those who own either, what have you used yours for and how have the blades held up?

I am considering the Hyper as a smaller EDC alternative to my Trance and the M type as a camping folder. Both are great looking knives and based on my experiences with Chad's work thus far, I have no doubt that the designs are top notch. My only concern is the Chinese 440C blade. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind maintaining an edge but I plan on taking the larger of the two in the woods now and then for some light wood cutting and camp work.

Any input would be appreciated.

Aloha Gespenst,

Not sure if my input counts, but FWIW, one of my work buddies almost, and I mean ALMOST shaved OFF the top of his index finger because he got his HYPER PE so sharp and was showing off by holding a piece of paper by it's corner and proceeded to "slash" the paper into strips which fell to the floor. Next thing I know, (after I warned him of course that he was getting TOO close to his hand:rolleyes:) He buckles over saying, "That one got me!!!" I thought he was joking until I saw him holding his left finger, of course blood dripping everywhere!

What is really awesome about this HYPER as well as the M-TYPE is the Titanium Coating. It resists corrosion VERY well, and the knife in terms of resharpening is easy...it also can take a "lightsaber" edge, as my work buddy can attest to!:p

I rotate my HYPERs with my TRANCEs...but please, everyone who runs a HYPER, change it to tip UP...;)

God bless and mahalo Gespenst!

PS: I rotate my M's with my DIREKTs...the M performs as well as the HYPERs. Trust me.

My Hyper sees a LOT of EDC. It is a very special knive i think. Never had any hand fatigue issues using it for longer periods. It takes a very wicked edge which holds out great.

The plus is it sharpens easier as fe VG10 S30 V ZDP 189 .Allthough it dulls a bit quicker as the latest High performance steels i think boker does a great heat treatment on there 440C . Next to that the titanium coating on the blade helps you don't have to worry for rustforming under wet conditions.

For camping/ outdoor i think M-Type or Direkt are great in combination with a smaller blade for delicate precise cuttingtasks.

It all depends on your personal preference. Mtype less pointy tip as on Direkt and slight recurve. Direkt is linerlock M-type framelock.

I did use my hyper for longer period without any problems. I don't have the Direkt for long so can't command for long period use. I think it will hold out great as i know the hyper and all my other CLB's do.

My Hyper was carried and used everyday all spring, summer and fall this past year...it held up great!....I'm able to get a razor sharp edge on it, and I have yet to see a scratch on the blade because of the coating...amazing!...The M-type has seen less carry time cause it's a CE and I prefer PE in my defensive blades...but whenever I carried it for everyday task it performed like a pro...I just started EDCing the DIREKT (I Love this One!) cause it's large and PE, sub-hilt folding tactical fighter with the same coating as the Hyper so I'm excited about the new one....Doc:D
