I’d Been Knocked the F Out

Just before daylight this morning, I’d been almost asleep for an hour or so but decided to walk our Golden Retriever Siggie. Well he decided it was playtime and after about 5 min. of chase (him being the only one enjoying it) he made a dash under the house. I’d had about enough so I headed in to get him using my phone as a flashlight and just as I got to him he made another dash past me. Err. I took off after him running while bending forward ducking and must have stood up a second too soon before I cleared the underside of the house and smacked my forehead on a beam. First thing I remember is seeing constellations and lots sparkles and an orange aura, then the feeling of cool dirt on my back followed by the dog licking my face still wanting to play. I realized I’d been unconscious and I’d been out for a while but not sure how long because I’d had no idea of time, but it was a lot brighter out now. I checked my forehead and there was no blood but damn what a lump.
(on my head and my ego) I didn’t really feel too much pain until I stood up and then my head felt like crap. The strangest thing was the overwhelmingly realistic memory/dream of being thrown by a horse while losing a cage fight with someone from the Gracie family. (WTF?) I suck at the interpretation of dreams, but I think it meant that it hurt real bad. Can’t say for sure if I have a concussion but today my brain feels like it had 20 years of cobwebs dusted off of it. Call me crazy but I’m enjoying my new clarity and I’d like it to stay this way. Funny how the brain works. Especially now

Very captivating read. You had me from start to finish. I'm sure it'll all mean something in the end.

I'm jealous- I don't have anything as interesting to share about how my day went- :D ` But you did make my day better cause this made me smile!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Glad you're feeling like posting about it.

I've had my share of busted coconuts-- my own and my sons'.

The doctors and my nurse next door neighbor always said an external goose egg on a head shot was usually a good sign-- meaning the swelling is external rather than internal causing brain pressure. So that sounds good.

Going unconscious OTOH is never good.

Any nausea? Pupils different sizes from each other?

I'd still see a Dr. asap if I were you ... scary thing about a head injury by the time you figure out something's went sideways you may not be able to help yourself or even ask someone to help.

Got myself with a garage roller door a few years ago, didn't push it up far enough and then ran to answer a phone call I was waiting on....bang...thump...

Glad to hear all is ok. Been there done that before. I really hate it when you hit your head so hard your neck compresses and crunches :-( ugh !!!!!

Take care and feel better

Thanks! I was really lucky for sure! So so thankful! Just remembered I must have been thinking about the Forum at some point because for the first hour or so I could see the exact mathematical formula for the speed of smell in my vision. Damn, I should have written it down. I don’t know how I forgot that part till just now.

I have some adventures from my past like this~ pretty trippy times back then- :D

I’m sure you had a concussion, be careful. You might feel a bit hazy tomorrow. I got roped into participating in Donkey Basketball as a fundraiser one year. Fell off the damn donkey and slammed by head off the basketball court hardwood. I felt the full effects 24 hours later.

Man - sounds like a real humdinger, and getting checked out is probably a very good idea, can never be too safe. I had a similar experience with a steel i-beam in a crawl space chasing down a conduit run, and installing a larger diameter run in its path to transfer original wires and another bundle to the larger diameter run. I had my head lamp focused more on the floor as the crawl space was unfinished concrete with razor sharp jags as a floor with re-bar her and there and leftovers from original construction of the LSU student union (I think in the '50's). I was crawling at a good pace, having picked my spots for knees and elbows aways ahead and then bam, forehead slammed into the lower I section of the eye beam I never saw in my lamp field...big thick structural sucker, I saw stars, went flat for a second or a minute, and had a cut about 4 inches on my forehead, was bleeding and there was nothing to do but crawl back out. That shit hurt, never got it checked out, as I was bullet proof back then, and should have in hindsight. I thought the blood and the gash were cool at the time. Now I get annual physicals, blood work and a full body check for skin cancer! What a difference in outlook!

Glad you are at least OK, all the best in your recovery and take it easy for the next little bit!

Maybe well see double posts. Forgetting then reposting then repeat. lol

I still have more clarity than I can ever remember. It’s like I had a medulla-mitral-reincarnation or something. No double posting posting so far but I’ve been thinking about bacon a lot. Bacon is such a great meal just by itself, but Bacon and Hash Browns can also be a great meal sometimes. I don’t mean those fast food chain hash-browns, (they’re a great snack), I mean those thick and crispy loaded with stuff like bell peppers, jalapeños and onion Hash Browns. Waffle House can turn out a pretty decent batch sometimes but I don’t live near them anymore. I also like good Hotdogs (MM Pork) Anybody remember the days of good hotdog restaurants? They were my favorite type of restaurant when I was growing up but they’re as scarce now as old hippie college radio stations, analog television stations or the old Redneck Riviera Lazare Tag Arcades we used to get so drunk at. And trips to see the family up north where we would spend most of our days playing in icy chasms and streams. Those were great days. Those memory’s keep me thinking how not many things are as good as they were back then except for things like drinking, food, time with family and new knives. Back then I could lay on the roof all night back then watching the stars and have a blast trying to find constellations like Serpentarious, Ursa and Strachey. Basically I love bacon more than ever now.

Anybody have any good hash-brown recipes?

I swam competitively while in school. Can South some time later. Did a full speed front crawl flip turn in the non-stairs end of the pool, or so I thought. Turns out neither end was 'non-stairs'. I was pretty wobbly for about 20min before my forehead started gushing. Pretty amazing how long it took to stop bleeding.

Went on job interviews with a second one for a teaching job. Felt pretty cool (read ridiculous) with a one inch jagged, crusty wound in my forehead. Still looked just awesome on the first day of classes my first year teaching. Was without insurance and without income so went without getting it looked at.

Holy smokes!!!! This is the first time I've seen this thread!!!

Glad you're okay my friend.

Let's Drink!

Jerry
