Summer vacation is over after this weekend and I go back to the middle school I work at on Monday. The forecast was bleak for today but the sun came out around noon so me and the girl went for an impromptu but welcomed boat ride. Had to jump in the water to take care of something and had my 110 (in its sheath) in the pocket of my swim trunks. Im impressed with how un-rusted and un-grimy the knife ended up. For the money, you can’t beat a Buck 110.

I’ve done that and worse with my ebony 110’s and they never got any damage. The old Ebony seems to be water proof. Its very dense and oily. Even after 40 years.

Glad you got out on the water. Back to work after vacation stinks. I go back tomorrow after only a week off.

Yall dont worry about getting your 110s or 112s wet. I've run a variety of buck knives through the dishwasher for years with no ill effect. Buck does some great things with their handles. But should a handle mess up, Well Buck has this great warranty.

As far as the sheaths, grab you some of the cordura/nylon sheaths and when they get dirty just toss them in the washing machine with your hunting clothes. A leather sheath,,, rub it down with neatsfoot oil... A bottle brush down the inside works good. Its surprising what some black shoe polish will do for a leather sheath...

I bought the knife used and the scales were somewhat swollen at the corners already so I wasn’t too worried. I do tend to oil wooden knife handles because I work around seawater a lot.
Do you by chance have pics of the swollen scales? Be interesting to see.

That’s why I like the 117 small special/ brahama , it is the same overall length as a 110 /101 but the handle is the size of a 112 handle and a 4.5 inch blade. That’s one reason the 101 doesn’t appeal to me. The 117 is a great fixed blade that I have used a lot out fishing and camping and back yard work.

It wouldn't be a 112, if the blade was 4 to 4.5 inches long.

O.B.

Don't confuse the issue with facts and logic!

How about this: a Buck folding knife with a similar shape to the 112, but large enough for a 4-4.5 in blade. 🤓

Are there many folders where the blade sticks so far past the handle? Might need a custom sheath for that one. 😂

Have you ever seen one of these? It's do-able! 😁

I'd rather just have a scaled up 112 to 110 size than that, myself......or even scaled up handle and blade to accommodate a 4" blade....

I just like the 112 bolster cut out design...but want a bigger blade

I have an ebony two-dot 110 that my brother ran through the washer and dryer numerous times, was dunked in lakes and rivers endlessly through the 1970s and '80s, and swam in fish guts and blood more times than I could count. It's still looking great and so is yours!
