The pattern came from a little fixed blade a friend of mine drew up for a concealed carry knife he had me make. He lives in the big city and needed a slim light weight knife with a nasty bite. I liked the fixed blade so much I converted it into a liner lock. I added a thumb ramp but from now on I think I'm going with a straight back. I think the pattern would flow much nicer without the ramp and a knife this small doesn't really need a thumb ramp any way.
Lol, I found out why I don't get along with small folders, already cut myself with the thing. Once pretty good and one little nick on the thumb. I guess big hands are meant for big knives.
The scales are dyed and stabilized maple burl. I'm very pleased with how they came out. Finished them off with pink no scratch and it really made them shine.
The bolsters are heat colored 1/8" ti I bought from Chuck Bybee. This is the first time I've ever done heat coloring. It sure perks up the looks of the knife but man is it hard to get even color. Just the slightest debris or burnish spot and you'll get a color differences.
The liners are .050 ti. Fist time I've used anything that thin, it sure is rough on the bandsaw blades. I was used 1-72 screws on the frame and scales. Those 1-72's are a lot stronger than I thought they would be and the taps aren't as fragile as I figured.
I used some .155 precision ground g10 that I bought from Halpern for the spacer. Having that stuff on hand sure is handy! Don't have to mess with stand offs or work with precision ground steel and then heat treat it, plus the g10 adds some color to the knife.
The blade is 1/8" 440c and with an old style swage on it. Can't see it in the pix but it's there.
I made the thumb bob out of titanium and heat colored it before filing the traction grooves in the end. Instead of grinding a big recess area in the non-lock side of the knife I took a ball nose end mill and milled a small notch in both frames for the thumb bob to sit in. I did it in both sides so the bob could be flipped around in case a lefty ended up with the knife.
The dimensions are 4 1/2" closed, 7 7/8" open, with a 3 3/8" by 13/16" blade.
Of course the lock up is superb and the blade action excellent!
Take care!

Don't know why but I felt the need to show it fully opened.
