I added a Winza; Tanzania Ruby cabochon to my small gabon 21, came out nice!

I had a few small cabochons and found one that fit my small 21 gabon inlay sebenza and it came out pretty nice I must say.. I used gorilla glue gel glue. Just a tiny dab was enough. Then added a tiny dab on the inside part of the slab so it would hold it from the back as well. This was a quick and easy mod provided you have right size cabochon. I wanted one of the UG graphic with cabochon inlay but it was out of my budget. Those are done properly with a bigger hole and inlaid properly. I dont know if this will hold up as well, but for the cost involved it is not major if it did pop out. And i could remove it anytime and scrape off any remaining glue with a dowel or something soft if I ever wanted to. Thought i might put it up for those of you who might want to try something similar. I wouldnt use this glue to a CF slab but Ti slabs all day should be fine.

I just cleaned the edges around the cabochon with a toothpick after an hour, and its clean now. Just need to wait 24 hours for it to set. I dont think its going anywhere. Its in there pretty good. I dont think it will ever pop out.

That looks good. I don't own a sebenza, what is the hole you covered used for on that knife?

It's part of the manufacturing process. They put the handles on two rods to keep them in place. The one rod goes through the pivot hole and the other goes through that one. That one serves no purpose after manufacturing

I just tried with some faceted 4mm stones. They fit perfect but obviously can't use them because the only thing holding them in would be the girdle without some sort of bezel. You've given me some inspiration of things to try.

CRK uses an adhesive like epoxy. I used epoxy, and mine has stayed in for over 6 months of hard use and daily carry. I would not fear yours fallling out...the glue you used is good stuff.

That's a good looking mod. I don't think it would have even crossed my mind. Good creative thinking.

Dont try this at home. It is a pain to remove the glue residue but can be removed with acentone and qtips

Very nice. I like it. Especially the green ones.
Thanks for sharing.

PS: I always wondered, who the "locator-hole" did not get more attention, like the holes in the "Crocs".

4.5 to 4.8 mm wide for small sebenza it seems works, and 5.5 to 5.7 for large sebenza. But this is what ive tried with the ones i had on hand round brilliants. YMMV

And funny little side story and meant with all respect, but may make you think twice or just good for a laugh...

Last night when I saw this thread I was both immediately intrigued and convinced I would attempt to try and do this awesome modification. While rummaging through drawers and searching online for the perfect stones I was caught by my wife and while rolling her eyes she says "oh great! Now your going to bedazzle your knives". 😳😳

Well let's just say I was caught off guard and rethinking an automatic jump and should develope my own original modification. 😄😄😄
