I almost ordered another BJ-LE, but then…

My SAR-6 arrived and changed everything. I honestly didn’t think I would have to make much of a choice; buy another BJ-LE or SAR-6 for a mid-sized user: BJ-LE all the way. Boy was I wrong, sort of. For me, the choice was pretty easy… SAR-6! It’s the sharpest Busse I’ve ever owned; the handle fits my hands perfectly (9.75” palm circumference) in about every grip; I really like the texture of the handles; It very nicely balanced; I love the thumb notches; the edges of the knife are perfectly rounded; I just love the butt of the knife; choils are for me; it’s beautifully polished,; the tip looks thinner and nicely functional, oh, and did I mention it’s ridiculously sharp, which I’m sure gives it amazing bite! Everything about this knife screams “USE ME!!!” I just don’t see any downsides to this knife; truly a one-of-a-kind beast!
So, I got a d/c, black canvas one to use the :eek:it out of. The one I got a few days ago is satin w/ green & black G-10. It is, IMO, the best mid-sized knife out there; which now has me wanting all of its baby brothers and its big brother, the SAR-8. :) (I really wish I would have picked up a SAR-3,4,5... while I could have from the store). :(
Pics to come later tomorrow (well, technically today).

If you are on the fence about getting one, do it (quickly as they won't be there for long - only d/c, blk canvas left though), you won’t be disappointed. If you have one, get another (that is if you haven’t already)! ;)

On a side note: this knife may not be the best choice for a person with smaller hands, but that’s just a guess, not a fact that I’m aware of.

NinjaHOG,

I couldn't agree more! I wasn't sure how the handle was going to fit my hand (smaller hands-medium glove; played LB in College, but could never "truly" palm the ball), and was a little worried after seeing a couple go back up for re-sale so soon. I love my d/c black canvas, and am looking for a 3 in the same general specs for edc... was even considering getting another to keep mint instead of a d/c BJ... Any thoughts re: another vs. a d/c BJ or is the BJ a hit as well...??? Conflicted on this one and have spent wwwwaaaayyyyyy too much these past couple of months (Ganza didnt help) to get all three...

Good snag!!!!! I have a couple of 3's and a 6. I really like them both. Had a 4 but sold it. The blade was just too tall for me on a knife of that length. For a 4" or so knife it is really pretty large. The CABS filled that slot rather nicely. The 5 has a different style too. It just didn't call to me so I never picked one of those up. I have felt that "I wish I would have got one of those" many times over the SAR 8. Good luck!

i have a sar 6 and a bj le too.i gotta say i like the sar 6 better.it has a killer sharp edge and very pointy tip, which i love.also has a more comfortable handle.and the overall quality of workmanship is custom shop level.although its bigger and heavier than the bj i think its a better all around knife

I only have a Custom Shop SAR6 and waiting on the BJ LE. I'm actually waiting for the very excited about the Boss Jack LE and think I would like that more but will wait till afterwards to see. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

MADDMAN, I do like the BJ-LE, but I would fancy the handle to be a bit thicker, wider, longer – bigger. But I don’t see my BJ as much of a chopper but rather a slicer or fighter type knife in which case it works superbly. I don’t have a CG BJ, but do have a satin Proto which suits me better (except for the edge, where I much prefer the BJ-LE). I guess in baseball terms, the BJ-LE is a triple where the SAR-6 is a 500 foot, out of the park Home Run, YMMV.

Here are a few pics of it alone, and in my hand:
