Hello,
I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Robert E. Molenaar MD, age 85. I have been a knifemaker for the past 10 years and I live in Cannon Falls, Minnesota.
Several of your members know me, Les Voorhies and Randy Tuttle(randydance0624499)and RB Johnson. Randy Tuttle is handling all the computer stuff for me.
I hand forge most of my knives from 5160 steel and have also used a variety of other steels,M2, D2, W2, pattern welded Damascus and I have even tried to forge Wootz by hand ( not something I would recommend!).
I use a variety of materials for my handles, wood and bone primarily. The main style of handle construction I use presently is a narrow hidden thru tang that is threaded on the end and a brass nut is applied at the butt cap ( this is all epoxied together).
I have used a variety of heat treating and tempering methods which of course vary with the type of steel used
and the desired outcome.
In the Gallery forum Randy Tuttle has put up photos of three of my knives. The M2 fighter, the D2 Utility and another in the thread titled feedback please.
The link below will take you to a photo set of me , my shop and some quick photo's of some of my other knives.

If you have any questions just send me a PM or an email and Randy Tuttle will get in touch with me for an answer. Or you can call me.
Thank you,
