A fellow knife friend of mine had a stroke last year and now he can only use one arm and one leg. He has so many knives ( Randall's and everything under the sun) but now he can only use one arm so he only carries a Vic OHT. Anyway he wanted to do some trading with me and I had a Singe shot 12 guage shot gun. I traded the shot gun and 5 knives for a brand new Romanian Ak 47 with about 140 rounds of ammo. The knives were a Hen and Rooster Bowie, Vic OHT camo, Case Canoe red bone 1991 production, Case Lockback, Kershaw Energ, and the shotgun for the rifle. Now, that's not what all I have to tell you. He finally got DSL for his computer and he needed me to get it all set up. I went down there and got everything working for him including virus protection and stuff. He was so happy that he could watch Youtube and stuff. When I left he said he had a present for me. He gave me a brand new Victorinox Work Champ knife with a Victorinox sheath.......OMG. I Love this thing. It has all the tools I want with none of the extras. I tried to pay him but he wouldn't take the money. He also told me that he had alot of other stuff for me to get from him as time goes by, Hammocks and stuff. I am not going to take advantage of him so I told him that I would show him how to sell his stuff on Evil Bay. That away he can get some of his money back. I feel sorry for him because he is only 52. Anyway, I am so proud of that Work Champ knife. He is a great friend. Im gonna be there for him anytime he needs me and he doesn't have to give me anything, but man going to his house is like going to Wilderness and survival and knife heaven. As I get the money I am going to buy some of the things that he has that I like. He has a Clark Jungle hammock that I want to buy next. Any way just wanted to share my story of a good friend that I have.

Wild, you may be misreading the situation.

When I got old enough to cross over into senior citizen status, I had a lifetime of stuff around. Backpacking gear, guns, knives, tools, more stuff than I ever needed, and some of it I could never use again because of age and an old service injury that just got worse over the years. Now I have some friends that I had mentored and brought along into the shooting sports, knife collecting, and so on, so when I came to the realization I had too much stuff around that I'd never get to use again, I thought of my young friends. They have their whole life in front of them, getting married, buying a house, raising kids, the whole American dream thing. This is expensive enough in itself, so I chose to give them my stuff. I didn't want their money, they had given my friendship, and helped me out on occasion when I needed a young strong back to move what this old man couldn't handle. It was my way of thanks. When they tried to pay me for what they thought it was worth, I had to tell them their money was no good here. Yes I was a mentor, and taught them a great deal, but when the snow was deep and my old back was aching, it was one of my young friends who came over with a snow blower and did a good deed. Things like that add up.

We old folks really do appretiate it. So your friend had a stroke, and deep down he knows he's never gonna use this stuff again, so he probably wants to give it to a young friend who will use the stuff for what it was designed. He may want to give it to you for that reason. Of he may name a ridiculous low price just to give you a break. He may hold you in higher esteem than you think.

Carl.

Your right Carl, he is a good friend. I am gonna try to take him camping with me and set him up so he can enjoy the outdoors with out all of the of getting it set up. Thanks for your insight.
