I am about to fine tune my new Paramilitary 2. Question regarding Loctite application

Well after a couple days of steady opening and closing, the pivot is still a little tighter than I would like. I might also adjust the stop pin screws as well to get it where I want. My question is, do I need to completely remove the screws to apply loctite? Or just back them out enough to expose a thread or two and go from there.

I don't want to go removing all the screws if I don't have to. Should I just loosen them all. Remove one screw at a time to put on loctite, then slowly tighten them back up till I have the action that I desire?

My Para 2 remained a little stiff for about a month of everyday use, with lots of gratuitous flicking and closing. Then it got just about perfect. You might want to give it a little more time before adjusting the pivot.

this!

Listen to the last two posts, trust me it takes a while to break a knife in, i've had a dragonfly for about 3 weeks and it's just now starting to get comfortable.
As for the Loctite, the best way to apply it is
1. Completely remove the screw
2. Spray 90+% Isopropyl Alcohol on screw
3. Wipe down
4. Apply a DROP of Loctite on screw, don't go ape shit on the Loctite, a drop is fine. Two is enough for pivot screw
5. For all other screws other than the pivot, only tighten lightly, don't try screwing it down as much as you can.
6. Adjust pivot screw to you liking, once you get that sweet spot, close blade, and tighten it a little more than that.
(Do not open blade after this point)
7. Once screws are set, let the knife settle in room temperature for a couple of hours. Preferably overnight.
8. Apply generous amount of lubrication to all moving parts on the knife.
These steps are fool proof and will result in smooth opening that will last for a long time
Also, make sure you are using BLUE thread-locker Loctite, I made the mistake of using the RED one before, very bad idea.
Let us know how it works for you

Both my Para2s were a little stiff out of the box but after a break in period and a drop of lube to the pivot area they're both spot-on PERFECT!

FYI, adjusting the pivot on a PM2 requires only a very small amount of turn on the screws. The pivot screws have a very fine thread and I usually adjust mine no more than 1/8th of a turn at any time.

I've been thinking about getting some lube for my PM2 and my szabo, because they are both so stiff. What do you use?

I have been using teflon tape instead of Locktite.

And it is working about the same.

You could also slightly loosen up the pivot (just a hair!) while making sure no blade play is present. That knife can have the pivot loosened on both sides so you'd want two Torx bits to do it.

Only a hair should be enough!

I have two torx drivers. Do I want to loosen one side a tiny bit, then the other the same amount? Or do I only need to loosen one end. And if only one, which side if I am looking over the top of the knife. Thanks in advance.

Just now seeing this..
Are you referring to the fact that there are torx screws on both sides? I just tighten/loosen the torx screw on the side that doesn't have the pocket clip on, assuming you have it set to right hand carry. Works fine for me, I don't mess with the other screw.

To help you understand the mechanics, look up videos of the PM2 being disassembled.
Although I feel like you are getting a little too picky lol use your knife! That's what it's for, in a few weeks it will get nice and cozy. I don't really recommend messing with it right now because you are still breaking it in

I literally just loosened it by 1/16th of a turn, and the blade now just jumps out and no side to side blade play. Smooth as glass. I know it was breaking in, but it was just a little too stiff for my liking. Now I don't have to kill my finger by mashing down so hard on the lock release. I think it was binding something up in there with the pivot that tight, cus the release isn't nearly as stiff as it was.

This is what I'm talking about! I will stay on top of the blade play to see if it backs out anymore, and if it does I will apply loctite.

Sweet, I would apply the Loctite anyways, I do it to all my blades. I posted the steps I take earlier in this thread. It's not like Loctite is permanent.
Btw did your Manix/Military come in yet? I ordered some stuff from BladeHQ less than two days ago and it arrived today in the morning, and I only chose standard shipping, i'm impressed
Edit: *By standard shipping I meant 'Priority Shipping" (4-6 days)

Those guys dropped the ball with me. Ordered the 29th, paid 6 extra for "priority" and it's just gonna arrive tomorrow.

'Priority' shipping is 4-6 days so it's actually on time lol But I know what you mean, we all hate waiting.

Priority shipping is actually 2 day shipping, they tack on 4 days for handling. That is absurd.

I never get my priority mail in 2 days, it's a miracle if I get it in the 3 days. I usually don't waste money on faster shipping anyway, less stressful just being patient.
