I got my bk 12, RSK MK2 on Saturday. It feels so good. I can't wait until I get my shop set up to customize it. Have even planned 2 camping trips this summer in which I want to teach my wife and kids some very basic survival skills like making a fire with it. Damn, I never thought a kinfe (a tool) could change your outlook on life like this. Amen, can I get a witness? :D
 
Hmmm does it make you want to buy more????? That is how you know.
 
I have my eyes on a custom leather sheath on ebay. I also watched a video on adding a paracord handle and jimping on a bk 11. I want a bk 11 too!
 
I don't know how I got by for 30 years without a BK11!
Congrats on the 12. That's a sweet blade for sure.

I have the 14 and 2, and I have an 11 in the mail.
I've used knives all my life and I don't know how I got by without a Becker.
I never leave the house without my 14 and use it at least a half a dozen times a day.
 
Thanks! There are no knife shops close to me, and the ones I traveled to didn't carry Ka-Bar, Beckers. Then I got some advice from some members on here. Finally I just ordered one so I could feel it and figure if I didn't like It I would throw it on ebay. Really, as soon as I pulled it out of the sheath I knew it would become my go to fixed blade knife. I have a bad feeling I just started a new addiction.
 
wait til you start customizing one, such satisfaction will be had. When i stripped and polished my 9 it came out like a whole other knife which I instantly fell in love with
 
Yeah. Once you take a Becker and make it your own....it's all over....for your bank account. :D
 
I'm a new beckerhead. I recently bought a BK2 and took it out and beat on it a bit .It held up to heavy batoning to make a fire and i was smashing it through the wood. what a great knife!
I ended up ordering the BK9, BK4, Becker necker and a ramorah
 
About my bank account! You know, as far as fixed blade knives go, Beckers area great price. I mean I paid $125 for a Benchmade fixed blade that is not half the knife of the bk 12 and I hate the handle on the benchmade. The bk 2 is what $60-70 bucks? Just incredible value. I do not have a lot of money to spend on knives right now, so the "more bang for you buck" principal is in effect.
 
INDEED! the bk2 is worth it definitely, this week i will be stripping and carve custom oak handles for it! gittin all excited just thinkin bout it haha

It is nice to know we are not alone. There are a ton of awesome threads on bf about customizing your bk. Unfortunately, there are several different things I want to do to my handle. So I suppose I will be buying a few more knives.
 
Yeah it seems these bastards would encourage our problem! *sigh* anywho I find that a bit o bicycle inner tube ("ranger bands") around the handle works fantastically but I don't mind the grivory for use, I bought stainless nuts and bolts for mine (looks nice with polished blade) but they're too long and I haven't gotten around to grinding them down yet, micarta is $40, someday maybe for my 2 and wood for the 9 just because I like wood handles on my choppers (for less wear and tear on your bare hands)

Moose!!! What are you doing up? I thought this time of night was just for us degenerates that ain't got enough good sense to get to bed. Please don't tell me you're getting ready for work. That would make me sad for both of us. :)

Congrats on the new 12 but I can't recommend anything over a 16 + 9 combination. I've never held a 12 & it's on my "someday" list but I absolutely Love my 16 & the 9 is just the King!!
 
It hurts a little at first, but then it starts to feel good.
