I never get "used" to it; Walking the ridge tops of Appalachia, in the fall.8) :O

You would think, since I know its coming, same season, each and every year,
that the magic of its arrival would cease to amaze me. But it doesn't.
Every year, since childhood, fall has been the season that has held the most wonder for me.
I can not resist its call; I find myself, dropping what I am doing, pocketing a camera and walking the ridge tops, trying to capture it's wonder.

Whats your favorite season?

Fred

Well that's pretty cool.
I live i SoCal where it is said there is are no 'season.'
I suppose it's true compared with what you folks get, but there are definitely seasons.
I like early summer and fall the best here.

Great pics Fred! Fall is my favorite time/season also. Cooler temps, hunting, fishing, hiking etc. Winter and spring are great also, but I hate summer weather. The heat and humidity really suck. -Matt-

Beautiful, Fred! Looks like you're having a great year for color.

Nanc and I took a rare drive Wednesday afternoon into southern Wisconsin looking for tree color. We hit a couple areas heavy with maples that were just glorious. Most of the area is about a week or so from turning; we're going out next week on a different route. Sadly, it looks like it is one of those years where the softwoods dropped early and the maples and oak will lag. I like it best when one can add in that brilliant yellow of the aspens and cottonwoods with the maples and oak.

Nice fotos. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your fall; it's our favorite, too. :)

Fred,
You're making me homesick! I grew up in NE Ohio and my parents had a cabin at Seneca Lake. I really miss SE Ohio in the fall. Heck, I miss SE Ohio at anytime of year. Here in the Portland, Oregon area we have two seasons, rainy and dry. The trees are evergreen and fir trees, so there aren't many that change colors.

What really sucks is my wife is flying back to Ohio next Saturday to be with my family for a week, while I'm suck out here working on projects.

I really need to find a way to get home to Ohio. Maybe talk my boss into a teaching position in the engineering group or something.

Great pictures Fred. Thanks for bringing back some fond memories of fall in the Ohio deer woods, or grouse hunting along the Ohio River areas. Dang, I miss Ohio hunting. Rabbits and squirrels, geese and ducks.
