Dang can you believe it? My 2004 F250 Diesel 4x4 has to go into the shop for a transmission recall. She will be under the knife for upto 5 days and guess what they are going to give me to drive?

A Ford Focus! :barf: :barf: :barf:

I think that car could fit in the back of my truck. I don't know who will be more embarrassed being seen in a Focus, me or my daughter, she loves my truck more than I do. ;)

You should have pulled the hitch insert out of the back of your truck and walked around behind the car......"Hey ******* how am I gonna pull my trailer?" :D
I just don't get it. I can see taking in a luxury car in and getting a focus as a loaner. They're both cars. But they should do their best to give you a vehicle capable of the same things the one you took in would. I'd be lost without a truck. You just never know when your going to need to haul something.

With the gas and diesel prices going out of sight you may want to hold onto the Focus. Maybe get a tow package put on the Focus to pull the truck around... :D

I'm gonna be the lone voice out here and say that I really like the Focus.

We had a lease on one for my wife's car and I preferred driving it. Superb handling and plenty of power for it's size. No wonder the Euro versions are being used in all those road races that you see.

In fact, when my main "beater" car dies, I am gonna look for a used Focus.

Yeah, they aren't too bad. My dad has one. The amazing thing is that the Focus rides rougher than my F250 does. Figure that one out.

I have to take my truck in on the 23rd and then I am going to my parents (170 miles away) for Easter, so i will get to "air out" the Focus on that trip. My dad said he gets about 27 miles per gallon, so that will be nice. But heck my 7500 pound Diesel gets 18 mpg and she isn't even broken in yet (only 8000 miles).

It should be fun but I sure will miss hearing that turbo screaming when you get into the pedal.

Hey, that's a pleasant surprise! I don't have any kind of brand preference but seem to end up driving Fords more often than anything else. One thing that has always seemed consistent is that Fords are underpowered (except our Mark VIII! For a grandpa car, it's pretty zippy. :D). Nice to hear that maybe Ford is getting the idea and going for a little more oomph.

I am really happy with my Fords. Before getting the 2004 F250, I had a 2003 F150 with the 5.4l, and before that was a 1992 F150 that I finally got rid of after 247,000 original miles! The 2003 was O.K. but it had some lower engine knock on cold starts that Ford said was "normal" due to the clearances designed into the engine. She would sound like a diesel for the first 30 seconds and then quiet down. Didn't sound normal to me.

But the 2004 F250 is amazing. For a load of a truck, she scoots pretty damn good. I guess she should with almost 300 HP and almost 600 Ft-Lbs of torque. Definitely faster than the F150 and tows like there is no tomorrow, and rides like a dream. When Ford came out with thier 0% financing for 6 years, and the dealer came down to below invoice pricing, and didn't spank me too bad on my trade in, I was all over it. Heck, after two years of payments she will be worth more than I owe.

I will drive this baby for ten years which will be perfect timing to give it to my kid for her first car. If I can milk 250,000 miles out of a 302, then I should be able to squeek 750,000 out of this diesel. :D
