Maybe I can help you out buddy. The two Natives that you are looking at are two different knives. The Origional Native (S30V) and the Native III (VG-10).
The differences:
1. Steel: As posted above they have different steels. CPMS30V is the new wonder steel on the block. It is more corrosion resistant than VG-10 and has greater edge holding. S30V is also easier to reprofile the edge on than VG-10. That said, VG-10 is still an amazing steel. Deffinatly in the top 3 steels in my oppinion.
2. Handle: The Origional Native's handle is thinner and has a classic styled clip on it. The Native III has a thicker handle with a wire clip. The handle size is a matter of personal preferance, some like it thicker, and some, like myself, like it thinner. (Doesn't get in your way of reaching into your pockets as much) The clip is another matter of debate. I have not used a knife with a wire clip, but many here have and the concensus seems to be about 50/50. Some like it for the lower visibility, some dislike it becuase it clips to tight to the pants.
3. Blade Shape: They are slightly different. The Native III has a smoother looking swedge than the Origional and it has a different pattern on the spine for thumb gripping.
Those are the differences. I own the Origional Native with S30V. The steel is absolutely fabulous. Holds an amazing edge. From the little use that I give it I have yet to take the Factory razor sharp edge off of it. I would prefer this model over the newer one for 3 reasons. First is the thinner handle. Seconed is the classic clip. Third is the slightly better Steel.
Hope I helped.
