My son Mace graduated from high school and it is just another reminder that I am getting old. It is hard to believe he is out of school already. Seems like not that long ago I was on these forums announcing that he was born. Hell I can't believe I have been on these forums longer than he has been around. I was in my 20's back then, now I am in my 40's. Seems like not that long ago I was playing football and now he is finished with football.

Here is a pic from football season. He has my smile.

I am so proud of him and excited to see what his future holds. At the moment he has joined the team here at Busse Knife Company and perhaps he will be a part of the next generation of knife makers. He is starting out at the bottom of the line so right now he is learning the finer points of floor sweeping, but you have to start somewhere.

He is also into breaking and training horses, which is awesome cause that means I don't have to do it anymore. Here is a pic from the last project.

They grow so fast. Feeling older as I type. I need a nap.

In your forties. You are just a youngster. Wait another 25 years when you look back and wonder where did all the time go. Cherish every day my friend it goes fast.
The best thing I ever did was find a woman who puts up with my bullshit and secondly was I have kept a close relationship with my boys.

That is awesome Brother.

It is a sobering day though. It seems just like Yesterday when my youngest was getting knighted

was it really 14 years ago when Bacon Bits came into being ?

You’re raising a kid with actual skills in a world where weakness is the norm. He will be a leader, and that should make you proud.
My oldest daughter is graduating as well and working at the family business, it feels good to see her succeeding!

Be proud, good kids come from good stock, makes me happy there will still be real men in this world.
That is coming from a man with four daughters…

That’s badass. Thanks for sharing. All the best to you, and family you helped build. Nothing like being a proud father.
40s!? You Still young.
Once I hit that age, I’m staying there if anyone asks lol

Time flys. Just yesterday I was cutting Gravel Cubs umbilical cord with a Sterile AD (in snakeskin). Sadly I sold it in lean times….

Now he’s out hunting and fishing with his Busses….. now he’s headed into his junior year of highschool. Hopefully he’ll join me at a Blade or visit to the Busse Compound one day. Still need them Cheesecurds!!!!B96EF45A-C4A6-4A4F-9C5E-2DA4A1BE3D55.png

Congratulations, but seriously,Sweeping floors? You need to show him all the custom ancient Chinese secrets ASAP!! WE NEED THE CUSTOM SHOP GRAND REOPENING!!! Happy Father’s Day to All.

In a modern world where the young need guidance just to mop a floor it's good to see at least some of the
next generation developing useful life skills. Dads are a very important part of that process.

Thank you all for the comments. It is really amazing to watch your children grow and mature into young adults. Could not be prouder of him.

He is learning fast. He has been shaping handles and is working on learning to sharpen. Perhaps someday soon you may be holding a knife that was sharpened by Mace.

A Kukri sharpened by Mace would be sweet! 😉
🤘😉🤘

I know every dad brags on his kids, but I will vouch for Mace, good kid and he smiles all the time. But don't go patting Gman too hard on the back. I have a feeling mom had massive influence on the young man.

I'm not a regular down here in the Busse area. However, if my math is correct (*and as far as I know), that makes three "Reckner"(s) doing good things at the Busse compound. As a Busse fan, that makes me feel really good. Busse Combat seems to truly be living up to the words, "a Family company".

From the perspective of a customer and fan, it's great to see an American company whose employees/members have decades of time and "skin" in the game. Long Live Busse Combat!

Congrats.

Very true my friend. Most of the good stuff came from her for sure. She stayed home and raised the kids while I was on the road. She deserves all the credit for the positive side of him. I contributed the stubborn, bullheaded, smart!$& part.
