I am going to give CRKT a try again.

A long time ago I gave my younger Son a CRKT M16 when he was a Boy Scout and he broke it in half in very short order. They would not replace it for free so I trashed it and have never tried another CRKT knife since. The other day I was reading about CTS-XHP steel and decided that I needed to give it a try. While researching what folders used it I came across the CRKT Panache Framelock LE model #530TXP. I liked the design and specs on it better than the Spydercos and others that I found. While most CRKT knives are made in china, this one is made by Lion Steel in Italy so I sent off for one. I should have it in a couple of days.

Has anyone out there tried one or even seen one? and if so did you like it?

I have never seen that particular knife. If it’s made by LionSteel, it will most likely be a good knife.

Good lord, I hope you're not in Canada. 500 bucks? That's pretty pricey.

I gave up on CRKT a few years ago too. Recently, I bought a D2 CRKT CEO from Bladehq. It was a very nice knife. It didn’t fit my hand, so I got rid of it, but the quality was there. Good luck.

I just sold my Panache. It was a great knife. It is a limited edition of 500 pieces.

I've no 'in hand' experience with this one personally,
but I have quite a few C.R.K.T. knives, which I like,
and really like Ken Onion's designs.
-As mentioned, limited editions along with Lion Steel made should be really nice.
I wonder what was done to break the M16 in half (?)
B.T.B.

Does Lion Steel manufacture in Taiwan? That’s the origination source for the knife. It looks nice but after the XOC, I’d be cautious about a high $ CRKT especially with some of the stuff coming out of Reate and WE.

Id pass on the crkt myself, but to be fair I don't know much.

All the local stores, like Wal-Mart, dicks sporting, blah blah blah, they always have a selection of crkt knives. Those just aren't for me. I've been ruined by expensive knives

Then a couple months ago, I stumbled on a VERY large crk knife online with a $700 price tag.

"LOL WHAT?!?" I said. I HIGHLY doubt 700 is fair for that knife....
I doubt the build quality and fit and finish are equal to my less expensive CRKs, olamic, Hinderer, benchmade....possibly even my spydercos.

CRKT is like Chinese knives in general. Too many shabby products for too long: hard to trust

HOWEVER

I have some Lionsteel knives, and they are all fantastic. So there is definitely hope here

Oof. Probably the most expensive CRKT I've seen.

I still have my M21 but that is in the For Sale pile that I'm making.

I don't see CRKT getting any of my money in the near future.

Good luck! I hope you enjoy your new knife.

Not a bad looking knife, I would not have guessed Ken Onion designed it. His style is usually a little different than this.

CRKT had a knife that was over $700....

CRKT as a company drives me bonkers.

They have produced some really great designs over the years. They take risks and have a sweeping design range from bland to outrageous. Very cool.

But the poor quality of the tools is a glaring point that is just too hard to overlook for me personally.

My information says that this model is made in Italy by Lion Steel, not Taiwan. It is retailing at $295, but I did not pay that much. I like the design and am willing to give it a try. It is a departure for Ken Onion Designs, but he does have a similar custom design.

12 Years ago I gave my younger Son the M16 that he broke the blade off of. No telling what he did but he could break just about anything. After that I gave him my Microtech Socom folder and he still has it.

Microtech socom elite is sweet looking. Always wanted to try one
I bought another one a year ago or so. They are very nice knives, made extremely well. See if you can get one made of Bohler M390. That's what I was able to get and it is excellent.
