they have two separate forums for production knife sales and custom knife sales.....

if i had to sell a few HI's which category would they fall under???

should i just post in both???

I've seen and bought them from both places. However, it's probably easier for you to manage if you just post it in one location.

I'll post it in the custom knife for sale myself.

Good luck!

Ted

am i allowed to post links to my sales thread in the HI forum???

i want to give you guys first dibs...i have a few good pieces that you might be interested in....

lots of old models that are rarely seen on DOTD....

and i need help in pricing...i forgot what i paid for them so i really don't know how much to charge...

You can't post a link in a thread, but I have seen a link posted in signatures.

HI's are usually posted in production knives even though they are one of a kinds.

thanks or the info.....

however, can i list a couple of knives and you guys give me a dollar amount i should charge for them???

i really don't know how much....

i would really appreciate your help...

the jewel of my collection is a custom one of a kind 19" chiruwa style sirupati with horn handles made by kami kesar...the blade is 7/16" thick....truly a one of a kind....knife has not been used and the edge has not been touched...however, it is a carbon steel blade and i have lived in a humid enviroment...the blade has a slight patina, but i polished it with mother's mag polish and it looks great... a few more coats should have it looking like new....

then i have two kobra's made by the kami bura...one is an 18" and the other is a 24"....

both have blades fair amounts of patina...but the 24" looks almost 90% in terms of finish....

functionally all three blades are 100%....just some patina on the carbon blades....they all come with scabbards, but the kobra scabbards are missing the brass tips...and none of the blades come with kardas or chakmas...sorry....

how much should i charge for these???

i will be posting in the exchange forum because i need the money and any responses would be greatly appreciated...

thank you all...

Well going by the HI website prices the Kobras run $100 and $150 respectively.

A 20" Sirupate is $125. The chiruwa handle is rare and since Kesar made it it's old. That would raise the price.

But against you is the less than 100% condition and lack of karda/chakma.

I'd try listing them at these prices and see what happens. If no one bites drop your prices.

Might be an error in the advert -- think I've read here that the Kobras are different to the rest of HI's range, in not having the lifetime guarantee.

Lifetime warranty also only applies to the original purchaser of the khuk.

Thus it is non-transferable.

Yuppers... Thats what I've always heard.

are you sure about that???

the 25" kobra and the chiruwa siru are almost brand new....

what good is a brand new knife if it loses the lifetime warranty.....would you chime in here yangdu????

Our khukuris are made for heavy use & are backed by a written no-nonsense
LIFETIME GUARANTEE (both blade and handle!)
and sent with a satisfaction guarantee.

the warranty says nothing about untransferable warranties and doesn't mention kobras as not having warranties...

New, keep in mind that Yangdu hasn't updated the webpage in awhile. The warranty for HI khuks are lifetime (except for the kobra) for the original owner. It used to be that it didn't matter who had the khuk, if they sent it back to Uncle Bill broken, they got a new khuk. However, with the advent of e-bay et al, people were buying slightly abused khuks for next to nothing, then taking a breaker bar and vice to the poor khuk until it snapped. They would then send in the pieces to Uncle Bill and Yangdu and get a brand new fully warranted khuk for a very small investment. The only extension to this is that if the khuk is bought as a present. Also, Yangdu is very fair. Just because the khuk is used doesn't mean that the new owner is left out in the cold. A polite email explaining the situation generally results in a fair compromise.
It is very much a bad apple spoiling the bunch type of situation regarding the unconditional warranty, unfortunately.

The kobras do not carry the same warranty as the khuks since they are basically swords that look like khuks. They are not engineered to withstand what an AK or even a Siru can.

Hope this helps.

For quite a while all Exchange sales of HI products were listed under the Production knife category. That was changed a couple of years ago, and they should be correctly listed as Customs, which is a lot more accurate. However, I don't think anyone will really mind if you already have it in the wrong forum, as the distinction is slight.
