I WANT TO SAY THIS FIRST I LOVE BUSSE.

but I want to test out Swamp Rat. They are cheaper, and how little money i get this is a Great thing.

I am going to keep my GW (Favorite THING I own) I am trying to sell my Skelly warden ;), and i already sold my AD.

But with the money i get from the knives and my B-Day (Feb. 18) i am going to buy (or want to buy) a chopweiler and a mini-mojo, and a edge pro apex.

but i was also thinking of getting a BATAC and the edge pro. any thoughts?

I am equaly interested in both options.

and how much is a CG BATAC go for? i dont want to over pay.

The CGBATAC is a great knife, I would say $300 to $325.
 
I have the Apex pro but I still have the oil stone I used when I was your age and only just up-graded to the Edge-Pro last year and I'm in my 30's. Watch this Ray Mears video and you'll see it doesn't take much to get good results with a cheap stone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQN4jcXDjbE
I say go for the Badger or better yet, get a CG ASH-1 for about the same money or probably less than the BATAC on the secondary market, and it's directly from Busse Combat. Just think, the money from the AD and the money you could have spent on the Edge-Pro and you'll have the ASH-1 and still get to keep the Skeleton Warden!
 
Nothin' against Swamp Rats, I started out there. But I have to agree with going for the BATAC or as Soulrack said, the ASH. As far as sharpening goes, learn to do it as you see fit. You are the one who has to be proud of your edge and how you made it.
 
This is what i am thinking. Try to learn how to sharpen by hand. if i dont do very well i might get the edge pro. but yes its cheaper, so that is a plus i will try to learn.

I use my knives and even though the BATAC will cost a little more i think it will do better then the ash.

the reason i want to try to learn how to sharpen by hand is i need a new watch. and i dont like the cheesy kind. i have the some tast in watches as i do knives. EXPENSIVE AS HELL BUT TOTALY KICK ASS!!!! but then agian thats how i like everything.
 
well if i could learn how to sharpen almost if not better then the edge pro people wont notice. if i ware a peice of crap watch eveyone can see. :D

Did you watch the Ray Mears' Woodcraft Videos on Youtube? They're really good and you don't need stones as nice as his. I don't wear a watch anymore...the cell phone has eliminated that need. :eek:

I truly thank you for this video. VERY informitive.

the japanese stones. when you mean not as nice as his do you mean the type of stone or quality.
