Ok, I am going to order a new knife this week. Ive been wanting a new fixed blade for awhile now and Im finally gona buy it. I have narrowed it down to the Ratmandu or the Esee 6. I am aware of all the differences between the two, and I know I will have to wait awhile on the Ratmandu if I order it. I want to hear from those of you who have owned both or handled both. Which one would you choose and why?

I have handled both now that some friends have had and I ended up purchasing a ratmandu. Something about the way it felt. It is solid and has a good weight to it where it feels like it can stand up to almost anything you throw at it. You will have to get a sheath for it but personally I like mashed cat's sheaths anyway so I would have gotten one for the Esee 6 too. The Esee is a good blade and there is nothing wrong with it but the feel of the ratmandu just called to me.

You're certainly looking at quality options. I am a Bussekin guy myself so i'm biased

Esee 6. I've never held a Ratmandu, but the Esee 6 is a lot of knife and a great value. I ended up getting the molle back for mine from Esee.

I'd go with the Ratmandu. The blade steel (SR-101 AKA 52100) is grand stuff and sports excellent edge retention and cuts very aggressively it seems. Though it isn't particularly resistant to corrosion. The finish on the blade is grand as well and very tough.
