I am putting together 3 sets of care packages for a EOD team leader in a Iraq. For the first care package I'm going to send some general thing that are requested of by deployed solders, (wet wipes dip etc.) The second package I want to send them some equipment, the EOD team is training the Iraqi EOD teams so I wanted to send them so thing that they might need, I talked to FranK @ county comm and he had some recommendations.
12 ACU-SOLED http://www.countycomm.com/acusoled.htm (He said EOD guy horde these)
3 Large Grappling hooks http://www.countycomm.com/hook.htm
3 Aluminum embassy pens.http://www.countycomm.com/PEN.htm
3 EOD bags (not sure on color od or tac-brown?)
3 pic pens http://www.countycomm.com/picopen.htm
10 containers of the micro towels. (I want to try these first)http://www.countycomm.com/microtowel.htm

my total so far is 325.45 plus tax and shipping and getting it to Iraq. I hate that i make 8$ an hour.

This is what I have so far. So I was talking to Frank@county comm he was telling me that the navy guys were issued the grappling hooks, but the other branches had to purchase them. He also was telling me that the Gov. has been buying up the EOD bars, but hasn't gotten around to purchasing Kydex for them, the problem with that is that is that not every one has one yet, so if i mail the sheath with out a bar, I'd look like a tool (figuratively). He also recommend the work glove's that they sell, I was also thinking about the technician screw drivers as well. Any other recommendations for stuff like this? or in general?

PS the gov. issue's that gerber eod tool already. ;)

just curious what do you think they will use the grappling hook for?

That seems like a big money item on your list

Mrs. Powernoodle just sent 5 boxes to an army chaplain in Afghanistan, who is our former Sunday school teacher. His request was not for military hardware, but comfort items - magazines, DVDs, snack items, drink mix packets, etc. Seems like the Army provides them with the stuff they require to kill people and break things. Off-road magazines and Jason Bourne videos? Thats what he wanted. And this guy is a soldier first, and chaplain second. Just our experience.

Thanks for doing something good with your hard-earned bucks. Awesome.

They use it for snagging trip wire's ,and other derbies that cover the ied.

Powernoddle, thanks for the advice, my friend and I are sending a *fat* general care package with that kind of goods, the group that we are sponsoring(is that the right word?I feel kind of bad when i say it like that, like these guys are my girl scout troop:foot:). Is only three guys. We also were thinking that with this gear they could help out the Iraqis that they are training.
Would it be possible for you mabye to pm/email me a list of what your Wife/church group sent?I'm pretty sure my friend and i got every thing that is generally sent, but my friend and I are only 21 so maybe she could impart some wisdom on us that we might have overlooked.
