I am going tomorrow to see it on Imax. Has anyone seen it?

I saw it - not on Imax. There might be 1 or 2 scenes that might look good on Imax but most much of the film is talking heads so I don't see the Imax benefit.

It is like "28 Days Later" but with someone searching for a cure. The zombies are the fast moving type - not the slower moving like in the "Dead" movies.

I say save your money and wait for it to be on DVD. Or watch the one with Charleston Heston first and then let us know what you think.

I'm a big SF fan. I really wasn't impressed with this one.

or read the book! I havent seen the movie yet but i loved the book by Richard Matheson published in the early '50's. I think it would be unfair to compare the book with any of the movies. I think the movie looks cool lets just hope i can keep from comparing the two. And the creatures are technically vampires at least in the book they are, hope they didnt change too much:( The same guy directed Constantine a few years back...so we shall see.
I AM IVAN!

Havent seen it but want to and will as soon as the crowds die down.

Go see it , it is going to be a great movie.

Then go see 30 Days of Night , prepare to see some stuff. :D

By the way dexter , are you sure you really have seen it ? because they are not zombies. ;)
Also , IMO the Omega Man ? While I greatly respect Mr. Heston for all he has done for us firearms owners, Omega Man is a horrible film.
Don't waste your time.

and please folks... why is it everyone has to try to compare a movie to the book ? ( of course any film is going to miss parts , ever try condensing a grand story into two hours ? hmm ? )
I am Legend is a great story , read it many , many times over but it is also quite old and could easily be relegated to the dustbin of forgotten stories.

It is fantastic that someone thought enough of the original story to try and bring it to film , again.

Saw it last night. The highlights you can pull up in the online trailers are pretty much everything worth seeing.
My best friend and I summed it up when the credits started rolling. We looked at each other and simultaneously said "sucked".
Three of us went out to eat afterwards. 2 hours of conversation, and not one of us mentioned the movie we'd just seen.

The ending was flat out bad. Horrible. Awful.

The bit about God and Bob Marley was unnecessary and ineffective.

The mutants were stupid and horribly obviously (and badly) computer animated. Imagine a full size Gollum with the Rage virus from 28 Days later that distends its jaw to scream exactly like the mummies in "The Mummy" series. Now, imagine an army of them that are all exactly the same that move around hyperactive gibbons.

And, two of which can knock over an SUV by simply tackling it.

And there are some significant plot holes and other odd bits that were never addressed.

Also, it followed the "quiet.... quiet.....quiet..... **LOUD**" formula of scariness. Over and over. And over. To the point where you could anticipate it for the rest of the movie.

I'm going to see it on Imax tomorrow. It seems to be getting mixed reviews from people that have seen it. The story has a lot of potential and could be a great movie.

Steven King, after being asked about the ending in print back when it first came out, stated he couldn't think of a good way to end it. I imagine Hollywood had the same problem.

Haven't seen it yet, but from the previews the ending looks just like the book. ("Boom, boom, boom")

My girlfriend and I went to see it, and we both thought it was okay, but the ending sucked. It was so cheesy that it ruined the rest of the movie for us. I did like the infected rats though.:D

I saw it last night. It was just okay. It did not live up to its potential. I also agree that the ending really sucked. The movie would have been much better if not for that.

3/4ths of a great movie.

They reshot the ending and added it as a tack on in November. Hopefully when the DVD comes out it will have the original ending.

Things that were good though:
-The dog, best actor in the movie.
-The Rats.
-The HK USP he keeps as a truck gun.
-The use of a snare in an urban setting
-His little auto although using its to cut through cable is ridiculous.

I saw and I actually liked it. Not the "same ol ****" movie. The was one plot hole, but that was the only one I could find (but it could be explained pretty easily). I figured not many people would like it because of the ending, but I thought that was what was good about it. Leaves it up to the imagination. Come on people, use it, that's why you have it. I would get into particulars, but I don't want to ruin the movie for those who haven't seen it. I would definately suggest seeing it in the movie theaters if you are a REAL movie fan and don't just like the big budget, same as all the others, movies.

“I am Legend” has been one of my favorite stories since I read Richard Matheson’s book back in the late 70’s.

The first film version was “The Last Man on Earth,” with Vincent Price. It was an Italian production, released in 1964. Richard Matheson wrote the screenplay, but he did not agree with some last minute re-writes, and had his name removed from the final film. The pseudonym "Logan Swanson" was used. This film version is the closest to the novel, where the virus turned the survivors to vampirism. The movies is now public domain, and can be found on the interent.

The Charleton Heston film “The Omega Man” (1971) deviated greatly from Matheson’s storyline, and removed the elements of vampirism. I thought the substitution of albinism and psychosis in the non-immune survivors was an interesting twist. The cult-like religious mania was a good addition as well, but perhaps a little too close to Charles Manson’s “family.” It has been a long standing favorite of mine.

I am looking forward to seeing Will Smith’s version. But I thoroughly disagree with how the survivors were portrayed in this adaptation. They should have used live actors, and stuck closer to the original concept.
