I have been carrying a SOG flash two for a number of years . I was looking for a new knife to replace it. I went onto YouTube and watched reviews on the different knives that are available.
I purchased a Benchmade Mini Griptilian. I like the drop point blade and the Axis lock and the ease of opening and closing the knife with one hand.
I am looking for a larger EDC. The Mini is too small for my likes. I may purchase the full size Griptilian with the BK1 coated blade with olive drab handles. Before I do purchase this I thought I would ask for suggestion on the forum.
I am looking to keep the price under $150.00.
I want to be able to deploy the blade with one hand and it to have a deep pocket carry clip that keeps the knife to be hidden unlike the clip on the Gripzilian. ( Does anyone know where to get a deep pocket clip the Mini Griptilian I already purchased)?
I want a drop point blade made of a good material that holds a good edge and is easy to sharpen.
Thanks for any help in my search.

If you want to go LARGE(3.9" blade) check out the bm 710. However the d2 steel might not be what you're looking for. It will probably be the next knife I get unless I can find somewhere that has a military that I can handle. I just can't fathom the spyderco's 5.5" handle.
What's your definition of large?

I would get a ZT or Spyderco paramilitary 2. I love mine! If you want something light go with the spyderco. If you want a heavier duty blade then get a ZT

710 is great yet it doesn't come with a deep carry clip. Same deal though, just ask Benchmade.

Spyderco Paramilitary 2 is fantastic as well but it doesn't have a deep carry clip.

There are some Craftsman here that make aftermarket deep carry clips for it. I believe that STR and theoriginalspaceman both make them.

You can get a deep carry clip directly from Benchmade. http://www.benchmade.com/company/contact_us.aspx

Kershaw Knockout and ZT 566 are worth a look too.

Thanks for the information and help.
Do you have to call them to get the deep carry clip? I read on a post that you have to tell them it is for a Benchmade Contego knife. It was said that you cannot tell them it for a Griptilian.
Do I have the correct information? if not please advise.
I will keep the Mini Griptiian and put the deep carry clip on that one. Thanks for the help.
Once again thank you for your time and help.

Also the benchmade 810 in m4 is a great choice. It is currently $10 over your limit on the site named after the major river.

As far as the clips go, if you want a black deep carry, you have to tell them you have an adamas. Look online to find pics of the clip you want then get the name/number. Almost all of them are interchangeable.

Never went through the process myself so I wouldn't know.

If I did, I would keep the request complimentary and vague.
"I love my Benchmade but need a replacement deep carry clip please." Something along those lines. If they want more information regarding which knife it was for well, how you proceed from there is up to you.

Spyderco Paramilitary 2
Zero Tolerance 0770CF
Emerson Mini CQC15
Lion Steel SR-2A-BS
Buck/Tops C-SART
Benchmade 940 Osbourne

And the cheapest of them all: Spyderco Resilience

Some are a but over your budget, but great knives for the money

Kershaw tremor is a great large edc knife if you can handle the fact that it has 8cr13mov steel. Personally for $20 I think it's a fantastic knife.

Al Mar Sere 2K. They can be had within your budget if you look around. Deepest carry clip I've seen. Not one millimeter of the handle sticks out. VG10 blade. Great ergos. What's not to like?

If you're willing to stretch to $200, the ZT 0562 looks pretty awesome. The clip on that one looks like it wraps over the base of the handle (not unlike your Flash II), so it should sit completely buried in pocket. Otherwise, I'd echo the ZT 0770CF and 0566 suggestions. If you want a really beefy knife, you can probably find the ZT 0550 (2nd or 3rd gen have a deep-carry clip) on the second-hand market within your budget as well.

The Large Griptilian with the Benchmade deep carry clip (from the Contego or Adamas) actually carries a bit awkwardly to me. The Benchmade deep carry clip does work well on the Mini-Griptilian though.

Thanks again for the input.
I checked my savings that I use for toys.
I raided it a few months ago and bought a Smith & Wesson 686 deluxe 357 Magnum and a Smith & Wesson 629 45ACP revolver.
Luckily I had enough funds to buy a few knives. I bought the Benchmade 810 Contego, 551 Griptilian and a Spyderco Resilience. I also purchased a knife that I have wanted but never bought, a Kershaw 1660 Leek.
I copied all of your suggestions onto a word document so I know what to look for the next time I want to add a few more knives to my collection.
Thanks again for your time in helping me out.

Sere works pretty good on snakes:

I wanted to just pitch him in the grass, but he fell on a friend of mine and he whacked the hell out of him with a broom handle. He insisted I finish him off. He's scared to death of snakes.

Oh - see that "scratch" in the concrete between the head and the rest of the snake? Yeah, that's the kind of abuse that VG10 can take. Believe it or not, I only had to run it on a fine stone a few times to get it shaving sharp again.

I tried the ParaMilitary G-10 Plain Edge, Spyderco Resilience and the Benchmade 810 Contego and did not care for them and returned them. I ended up with the 556 in blue, the 551 Olive drab with BK1 coated blade and the Kirshaw stainless steel Leek. All three could be a good EDC. I really like the Axis design, because of this I did not concern myself with the Benchmades thicker grips.
I also purchased a Work Sharp WSGFS221 Guided Field Sharpener. I spent time sharpening all of my knives and was very happy with the results.

I really like the BM Adamas.. It might be too big.

I was surprised from Benchmade. I used there contact form and sent an email saying I needed two deep pocket carry clips. I never thought more of it. Two days ago I got two Benchmark deep carry clips in the mail.
I tried another Spyderco knife. I got the Sage 2 Titanium. I feel it overpriced like most of their knives. I will keep it to pass on to maybe a new stepson.
The two Benchmades and Kirshaw knives I got are all very well made good EGC knives. The Leek is the best for the price.
