Ahh... I got your attention

Here is the deal. Part of our problem is we are running out of memory on our server. We currenty have 580 Meg of ECC Ram on our server and we need to double that. The ECC Ram will cost $1,499.95 from Compaq.

We also need to upgrade several other pieces of software we use to keep this place looking sharp and running smooth.

So I have put a some new items in the store and lowered prices on some to get them moving!

Like SeberTools for $9.95 for the M2 and $12.95 for the M3! That is half price!

The remaining T-shirts are $9.95 or Free with a Blue Native. Yes we still have Smurf Natives! And if you buy one you will not only get a FREE T-Shirt but a Concealex neck sheath too! That is $35 worth of FREE STUFF!

We also put up a new Kershaw Power Sharpener made by Smith's. It is pretty darn cool!

The Spyderco Sharpmaker 203 is now only $39.95 while supplies last!

So head on over and take a look! Also look at it again next over the next couple of weeks as I am going to load that puppy up with accessories like the new Tri-Ceps sharpener from Gatco, New sharpeners from DMT adn Gerber. Several closeout deals including Microtech Double Action SOCOMs for $49.95! Just kidding on the Microtech

But I will have some KICK ASS Specials very soon so keep checking in at the store as I will not flood this forum with store stuff!

So let's give our server a tune up and you can help!

Email your friends! Tell you dad! Tell that Alien who just landed in central park!

These make GREAT Stocking Stuffers (HINT HINT!)

And for those of you who have not bought anything from the store but you hang out here regularly (We know who you are) you must buy something or we will send you a virus

Also what would you all like to see in the store? Remember we can not sell knives on a regualr basis. Only special runs or closeouts. Seriously what other stuff out there would you like to see?

How about some Photons!

Walt sent me my first one and it is COOL!
Thanks Walt!

Have Fun!

Well, I said it before (in the middle of some other thread), and I'll say it again: Mike/Spark, put an item in the store that says, essentially, "click here to "contribute" $20 to BFC", and I promise to cheerfully click on it at least once a year. ("contribute" in quotes, only because, although we consider it a worthy cause, it isn't likely tax deductable.)

Maybe a range of values, say $5, $10, $20, $50? (For $1 its probably hard to justify processing the credit card transaction, but prove me wrong :-)

(Think of it this way, folks, $20 is in the ballpark of what it'd cost to take yourself and a friend to the movies, with popcorn; that's two hours worth of entertainment -- and I've gotten way more than two hours of entertainment out of BFC

.)

And, dang, 580 MB and the system's having trouble? Whatcha running, NT?!?! Oh wait (telnetting to smtp and http ports...) No, looks like RedHat. Still, more memory sounds like throwing hardware at a tuning issue (my $0.02 as a Unix sysadmin for the past decade and a half).

Just to set the record straight, with the KNIFEGNUGEN '99 shirts for Mike and his family, I included two orange Photons, one for his lovely wife Lori, and one for his darling daughter, Jenna.

The Photons are to keep Lori and Jenna safe, especially on Haloween. I did NOT send one to Mike, who can dress up as a speed bump if he wants.

Seriously, the Photons are great for making you and your kids visible. I highly recommend them. My thanks to Jim March who first introduced me to them, and a special thank you to Tim Flanagan of Nor'East Knives: noreastknives@bigfoot.com , who has the best prices and service on Photon Lights, Krill Lights, Sure-Fire Lights, and similar items.

Dr. Walt says: 'Stay light, stay bright, stay out of the ER tonight!'

PS; be sure and ask Tim about the Badgelight; it is a special tail cap assembly you screw onto the end of a Mag-Light; it contains a very bright blinking red or blue (your choice) light that is powered by the batteries of the Mag-Light. Dr. Walt says, 'Check it out!'

Have a happy and safe Haloween, everyone. Walt

I'm with Carl on the larger amount. I was thinking a $10 or $20 mailed in would be more appropriate. If you fold a letter around the bill, you can't tell it's in there.

My wife sees the credit card purchases and that sets off alarms, so cash is best for me.

Just think, if even a couple of hundred members each sent in a $20, that would be a significant help.

Mike, that MT thing was really cruel!

Oh yeah, I heard that too much sex causes memory loss. Maybe some of that Ginko Bilboa is what you need.

Nasty joke about the Microtechs, Mike! I was busy deciding how many I wanted to buy until I read the next sentence! Doh!

Hmm, maybe I'll get one of those M3s...

Mike;

A donation would be OK with me. Try memman.com to get your ecc memory for your server. 569.00 for 256 m/B chips 100 mhz.

Floyd

OK Mike sent you some green through WOW.

The ECC memory must be bought from Compaq to keep the warranty in effect. That kinda sucks

Thanks for all the ideas and help folks!

Also as a side note KFC is needing some help to. Earl is faced with about $300 a month overhead to keep his site up and running so he could use a hand to.

I would like to thank all of those who have donated!

I will keep a running total in this thread so you guys will know how it is going.

So far we have $125 in donations.

Thanks!

There is a new version of UBB comming out which will run about $500 so anything over what we need to fix our problems will go to the new software.

Mike

NOW you post this after I spent all the extra cash last week at the BF Store. Oh well, as my granddaughter says. Maybe next time I can add on a little extra.
