Jezzz, my favorite wooden computer chair just got all scratched up, HUGE scratches! I gotta stop clipping my knife to my back pocket or remeber it's there so I can take it off! Anyone else done this?

I clip to the outer seam on my back pocket... not the one close to centre. Never had a problem scratching anything yet. Works best on tip up rigged for right, as the hole is to the centre and not against the pocket seam.

It was my BM 556. It was clipped as far to the right as possible and it's tip up. This is a bummer. It's a really old chair, it probably took 40 years to get the deep finish it has on it. The scratches just scratched off some of the polish, it shouldn't be too bad to fix.

At work I sometimes put a screwdriver in my back pocket. I've wrecked a few nice chairs and a car seat or two:rolleyes:

*sympathy*

i'm the reason my doctor's office has little signs that read:

"Please be aware that keys or other sharp objects may damage furniture."

of course, why they would have leather overstuffed chairs in a waiting room is beyond me.

i also had a pocket clip gouge a friend's colonial cherrywood bannister. i wanted to shoot myself.

Uh, I don't have much to say about the clip scratching up you chair, but I really like your avitor (sp):D

They're not scratches, you just added character.:D

Its all in how you look at it.;)

LOL! It's Loredana Ferriolo. Most people won't believe this, I had a friend who is a cousin of Loredana back in high school, I never met her though. Someone posted the pic in the W&C and I HAD to use it for my avatar (thanks to K.C. for resizing it when I couldn't get my image program too).

Now you have discovered but only one reason why I feel clips are evil and remove them from my knives!

J-man,

Not only have I torn up furniture in the past, but I lost a knife with a clip carried in the back pocket. So no more back pocket carry for me.

I also do not like the idea that the knife can be "picked" from the back pocket.

Hmmm... I'll bet Loredana doesn't scratch the furniture when she sits down....;)

Like Easyrider said...Clips are evil:D .
A good multi position belt pouch is a much safer way to carry. Kydex rigs can be extremely versatile. Or you can just drop it in the bottom of your pocket.
Clips bend. They cut, scratch, tear, and gouge anything that gets within their reach. And most importantly of all, they mess up the feel of the knife in the hand.
Your mileage may vary.............

You still have to watch out for the clips when the knife is in the front pocket. My car doors can vouch for that. I've put some wicked sctatches on them from knife clips.

Yeah, I had forgoten about those....:(

John, I was carrying a folder clipped to my FR pocket for a long time, but I noticed drawing from the BR was quicker. Either way my poor chair :(

CLIPS ARE EVIL! :p

Actually. . .Koji Hara has solved alot of the problems mentioned above by making clips outta carbon fiber.

Very trik and very cool ! :)

Personally. . .I love clips ! :D

Clips have caused many a scratch on the furniture, walls, car doors and side panels in my career carrying. They have also caused me to come very close to loosing my Mini-Socom. I have found that knives of that lenght are just about right for my leg to push up enough while sitting to almost push the clip off the pocket lip. I don't use clips on folders the approximate size of the Calypso Jr or Mini-Socom. I take them off and carry the knives in the pocket.

I find clips more useful for the larger folders that are too long for bottom of the pocket carry. Cases would be better possibly as they would eliminate clip springing or scratches from the clip but are even more noticible than carrying with just the clip to hold the knife.

All thing are a trade of of convienence or security.
