but, I still can't figure out why this model comes with only tip-down clip mount. I will have to buy it then have our shop redrill it for tip-up carry.

Spyderco needs implement the 4-way clip mount on all their knives as they have done on the new Endura or Delica models. I just don't understand the issue that results in the decision to restrict the carry unless it's the cost additon of a few extra holes. Anyway, I tried to search on this topic but, the search engine is not working too well this evening it seems.

It seems to me that every time Spyderco implements 4 way clip position on a knife, we see a bunch of people whining that all the extra empty holes detract from the appearance of the knife, or provide conduits for foreign matter to get into the works. You just can't please all of the people all of the time. Sometimes I think each knife should come with a clip, screws, a drill bit, a tap and a note that says "Mount your own d*** clip". Personally, I prefer tip down carry, but whatever floats your boat...

i have an ss endura 4 , and also want a ss police. in 2 weeks time i`m going to buy a full size manix and a military in the same week. after that i`ll get a police.

The SS Endura is a good recommendation and, I will consider it. However, there is a certain mystique about the blade grind and profile on the Police that I really admire. I slightly prefer its handle over that of the Endura (which I already own the new FRN model). I am planning to visit our local knife store and handle these again. As was said, these do appear quite similar.

Are you looking at a pe or se Police? I had both, and the se is just scary! Definitely a classic model with serrations. There aren't many knives that I prefer serrations on, but the ss Police is one of them. Nothing against the ss Endura, but it's no ss Police!

I am leaning to the SE model. I went by the knife store today and looked at the PE version. Won't know if they have the serrated edge model until tomorrow when the manager returns. They were trying to close up today when I got there.

The knife is actually very close to the Endura in many ways. Just a bit more streamlined and refined looking. A bit longer too. I liked it.

My only carry every day for the last two or three yrs has been a Spyderco SE carbon fiber. It replaced the BM710 HS and the Al Mar SERE 2000. Awesome knife. Great blade for cutting food, too.

I also have the PE carbon fiber and is unused. I wonder if it is worth anything.

Well, my local dealer does not have the serrated edge version. But, the plain edge version looked awefully nice. I am probably going to pick it up and, add a serrated version later. I am curious if you guys sharpen the SE version yourself or, do you send it back to Spyderco?
