So I took a little trip to Portland, OR this weekend (from Seattle, WA) and I stumbled across one of those mighty fine Classic Sebenza's with the Micarta inlay. I have been lusting after a Sebenza for years and years, ever since I read a magazine article on how great they are and did some research on them. I've never been able to get around the cost issue, but at the moment I'm feeling a little flush, and at $430 + no sales tax I'm saving a bunch on the $454 + tax I would have had to pay here.

I wasn't sure about the Micarta at first, but after handling the knife, I couldn't put it down. Maybe if the scales were a touch rougher they would be better, but it's such a minor 'concern' I'm not worried. Everything about this knife is pure sex. The beautiful design, the smoothness of action, the grind of the blade, the way it fits my hand...everything. I'm so in love with it I'm carrying it around in my bathrobe!

I guess the next step for me is to hunt down a find damascus Sebenza, but I'm so happy (and broke) that it will be a while. Anyway, I'm sorry to gush, and I know you've probably all either heard it before or experienced it, but after years of Benchmade fandom, I've found a new love.

Welcome to the club. Now try a Mnandi for dressy situations. You won't feel under-knifed.

The classic Sebenza with micarta is a fabulous first Sebenza. I’m so glad I ummed and arred about buying a Sebenza for a while, because the micarta classic is even more perfect and functional than I thought it could be.

Canvas micarta becomes very grippy when it is wet, so I think you’ll be surprised by how grippy the micarta can be.

Hmmmm more talk of these micarta inlaid Sebs...

The itch to get one is not going away. Too bad they don't make them with the one piece inlay as well.

yeah I am looking to buy one here in a lil while as well. I emailed Chris Reeve about inlaying it with burgandy micarta but they said there not at this time, but thats not gonna keep me from buying one.

I know what you mean, after you buy a sebenza you might be broke for a little while, but it feels so good to own the little bugger, that you wonder how you ever got along with out one. :)

Last week I did some trading with a popular knife dealer that just so happens to stock CRKs. My trade balance worked out to where I could have walked out of the store with any CRK knife I wanted, folder or fixed. And believe me, there was a good selection in the showcase.

I walked out with a bag full of Spydercos instead. I walked right past the Reeve showcase.

No regrets. ;)

Very good choice! You can't go wrong with Sebenza... that's also the beauty of this knife!

Aside from being rude to the thread starter, what is the purpose of your post? I really don't care what kind of knife you prefer, but there are better places to proclaim your love for Spyderco.

No doubt...whatta butthead.

Ironically, my real name is Nathan S. and here I am being defended by one on line! I didn't want to say anything because I normally don't feed the trolls, but he summed up my thoughts perfectly. Thanks, fellow Nathan!

No problem. I hate rudeness. It's so tacky. :)
