Hello all,

I am new here. I am mildly afflicted knife geek. I lean toward function rather than art or beautiful knives. I appreciate beautiful Damascus folders and things of that nature, but I USE all my stuff.

AND I USE IT HARD.

I favor non folders by a huge margin...

here is the majority of my sharp stuff.. It all gets used and abused pretty regularly

The only folder I carry and use is my ZT 301

I see a lot of similarities in design to Rick Hinderer's knives.

ALL YOU HINDERER FANATICS TELL ME AND SELL ME ON WHY RICKS KNIVES ARE # 1

THANKS,

THANKS,

What knife is #1 is too subjective to answer. Many think their SAK is #1 another says his slipjoint. Keep coming back and reading. Google Hinderer XM-(18 or 24). BTW, nice pic of the ZT 0302

I am by no means a knife afficianado, but have a good knowledge of basic knife use and of basic science for that matter. I have an XM24 and it has not left my side since I got it. The ergonomics are great, but more importantly the fit and finish is impecable. For hard use a fixed blade is stronger, but for a pocket knife you would be hard pressed to find a tougher knife based on materials used, knife design, and ergonomics. I keep this knife in my work bag which also goes with me in my car for emergencies. I think any knife can falter with enough abuse, but some can falter with normal use. In my opinion you would have to go out of your way to harm this knife. Then, there are intangibles. . . the knife feels firm and natural in the hand. Anyone that I've let hold it has instantly said they knew this knife was one of the best they've held.

By the way, I've decided to buy another Mokai as soon as I finish paying off the John Deere. I'm going to get it from the same guy in New Sharon that I bought the first one from. Meaning youll have me as a house guest for a week or two. If you're lucky maybe I'll bring you the 3.5" flipper to play with.

You are welcome any time. I just got home from camping out on the island on Indian Pond with the kids. There were some fish out there....

Thanks, the ZT 0302 is my go to folder. If BP Green can make me see how good a Hinderer is I'll be snapping on up as my next folder.

I've owned the ZT 0301 and they're positively BEASTS man so I know where you're coming from, but I'm sure when you handle the XM-18/XM-24 (uhmm yeah better) more you're going to be snapping one up quick! The handle on an 18 is similar in "length" to a ZT 0300 series but the XM-24 is just huge in the handle and blade.

Awesome pics Honk! I can't believe how big the girls have gotten and we even got a bonus with Reilly the wonder dog!

A couple questions though: Who caught those brook for you now that I'm not around to do it ?!? :D

Those pics make me homesick. Is that last one the West Branch inlet? Did J-Rod and the Bomber go with their kids this year?

Why do you guys always cook the fish with the head on them plus whatever other goobers are in there? :barf:

I'm not a non-fisheating wuss either. I was a licensed guide for several license renewals driving tourists out to the walleye grounds in Lake Erie. We do a couple of cuts on each side then ease the filets off, skin or no skin (according to tastes) rinse 'em and bag 'em?

I smell pinche migra...lol. Do it dude. Best knife out there bar none. I had the ZT301 and sold it because I just didn't carry the beast that much. I have the XM-18 and carry it all the time. The thing begs to be used and abused. I'm selling off other knives to fund a second purchase. Trust me and BP, Rick knows how to make a knife. Everyone who see's and handles this thing here at DRT/UVA wants one.
