I am Really Liking The Gnome

I've liked the looks of the Gnome since the drawing popped up a while back. Recently I was given the opportunity to borrow one for my photo projects...which is awesome because life events this past year have not been conducive to buying the knives I need for my projects right now. I haven't gotten crazy with it or anything, partly because it isn't mine and partly because it's a small edc not a bushcraft tool.

That said, I really like this knife a lot. It's not a whole lot bigger than the Runt, but I like the pointier tip better. Also I really like the handle shape. It's like a 3 finger version of the Lonestar handle and I love my Lonestar. I find this knife highly functional in an edc role. I just love the way it handles. I'm definitely going to need to land a wooden handled one of my own for my own uses and future projects.

It has been hanging out with me in Middle earth some too, and I just really dig this knife.

It really is. Like as very classy and much more refined version of the shards of stone our ancestors carried for edc cutting tools :)

Thanks for this post—I've been really wondering about that little guy and how it fits into the hand. Thanks for the photos!

No problem, glad you found the post useful! I was intrigued as soon as soon as I saw it because I do like my Lonestar so much and the handles are so similar in shape.

It reminds me of a pointier Stubbymuk-- a pattern I really like.

It is very much like a pointier version of the Stubbymuk and the pointiness was what caught my eye :) VANCE VANCE has a pic of the two together that shows the similarities and differences.

This is what I thought of when I finished the first one. I can just see a group of people on their knees skinning a mammoth with the little thing. Good call.

We are a lot alike in our thinking. That is very similar to the image that passed through my head the first time i handled it, people hunkered over animals skinning them and processing the meat near a fire as the snow fell outside a cave opening. It feels very natural and very intuitive in my hand in use.
