Financially, that is.;)For years I have been bellyaching about the lack of brick & mortar knife shops in my area. I have been patronizing a local hardware store with a mediocre selection of Case knives at ridiculous prices. I like to CE & CF my knives before I buy them, if at all possible. I am willing to pay a premium to do this, because I feel it's worth it. I usually buy most of my knives online, because I have been unable to find anyplace near me with a decent selection.

Well, today I discovered that there is a Case Master Dealer within 15 minutes of my house. I went there this morning with my son. Oh. My. Goodness. I have NEVER seen that many Cases in one place at once. Except for maybe at the Blade show. I was in Heaven! They had the full line of current production Cases, going back a couple years, including the Tony Bose collaborations, and Case Select. Oh yes! I got to handle a Tribal Spear (which was really, really nice) and countless other drool-worthy knives.

I am in SO much trouble. :D The best part is that the store's prices are very, very decent. And they're flexible on the prices. The guy working there was super nice, and very cool. He gave my son a Case pin, and was very patient with us, letting me fondle any of the knives I wanted, and was perfectly happy to talk knives for a good long time. I finally decided on a medium stockman in carbon and chestnut bone, which has flawless f&f. The guy gave me a discount, since I think he realized he has a new junkie/ regular customer on his hands. So I walked out the door with a nice new knife FOR LESS than I would have paid for it if I bought it online (including shipping).:thumbup::thumbup:

Needless to say, I will be visiting that store frequently. :D Just thought I'd crow about this to you guys. Case has a dealer locator on their site, and believe me, it's well worth using! Nothing beats getting to handle your knives in person before you buy them!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to force a patina on this sweet little thing, and convex her up real nice. :)

You lucky dog! Congrats!

There is a Case gold dealer about 10 miles from where I live and while they have a decent collection, it is nothing like what you described. Carrying Case knives is their secondary business as they are for the most part an electronics shops. There isn't a Master dealer within 100 miles of where I am. Maybe I should count myself lucky?

Oh that's not good.
I mean it's good but................................

I feel your pain brother.
I found this honey hole about a year ago and now I own quite a few Case knives. They will match or beat the lowest price I can find online, tax included.
I think I will stop in on Monday on my way home from work :)

This is the main display, I couldn't get the other three (or is it 4?) display cases in the picture.

Middle Tennessee floods took out my nearby Case store (one of their factory stores). Life giveth, life taketh away. I haven't heard if they're coming back. I bought my mango-patina'd red bone Peanut there not long before the devastation.

You live in Covington? I think that might be the very same store I found today. It was in Norcross, and looked exactly like that, and was also in a drugstore. It's an awesome place! There are about 5 more cases full of knives that you can't see in that picture.

Would that be the big one in Nashville? That's terrible to hear- what a tragedy! I hope they rebuild!

I think we found the same place. I work Downtown (Atlanta) and my wife works in Decatur and we carpool together a couple of days a week. I have about 90 minutes to kill between leaving work and picking her up and that is more than enough time to CE and CF a few specimens.

So, they have the Tribal spear huh?
I'm in trouble. I better "forget" my wallet on Monday.

do you have any pictures of you new knife?

Not yet, I'll scan it in on Monday. I'm working on a starter patina and the edges now. It had nice, sharp edges right out of the box, but I always refine the edges as my way of making a knife "mine". The bone is absolutely top-notch. It looks like the bone on the chestnut Tony Bose collaborations. No exaggeration- it is the same stuff.

The dealer locator feature is cool. I checked that out on a non traditional knife I really enjoy, and found an retailer right around the corner from me at a Police Uniform shop. I sometimes ride my bike there, just for the exercise, and see what they got. I did that for Case as well, and found some new places to buy my traditional smack. Damn the pusher man!

You are very lucky to have such a fine store near to you

I don't have any store near me.
So I rely on the dealers online to send me good stuff

Andy, what's the name of the place please?
Next time I'm down that way I'd like to check it out.

Glad you found one so close to ya:thumbup:

edit- Andy and Stu...Thanks for the PM's with info!

Hi,

I'm jealous, the closest silver dealer is over a 100 miles away from me and the closest gold is 267 miles:(

On the other hand, I still got a little money.:)

I'd love to have a store like that around here.

I am too frightened to even take the step to look it up. I think I know where it is, just do not want to confirm it in order to keep my wallet healthy.:)

(On the other hand, it would be cool to meet you two in there some day when we could all plan it out, but if you see me going for my wallet, just beat me to a pulp.) :D

I know how you feel. There's nothing like that around here either. Bet you couldn't drive by this place either without spending a few pennies:

Well guys, you should consider yourselves lucky to have such things even 100 miles away from you.
Where I live there are no such things as Case dealers, as a matter of fact, there are NO knife dealers, there's no such thing as a knife shop around here.
So quit ya whining and enjoy every moment!:D

You don't have to be in Romania to be deprived, Mike.
We've got nothing in my general area (without driving a far piece) despite its being smack dab in the middle of traditional knife country.

Pros and cons my friend, pros and cons...;)
