I am expecting a Randall that I ordered last November through Gary Clinton (aka, Clinton Knives) to arrive today. It is a GTR Special with the following five chargeable options: Thumb Notches, Nickel Silver Single Hilt with Squared Top, Aluminum/Black Spacers, CW Handle Material (Stabilized California Buckeye Burl that I supplied), and a Nickel Silver Butt Cap (Radiused). Stainless Steel is standard on this non-catalog knife. I also specified a black no-hone sheath with diagonal keeper strap. Gary shipped it to me last Friday, and the USPS Delivery Confirmation information shows that it will be delivered today.

Here is a photo of the actual California Buckeye Burl block that I supplied, before it was stabilized:

This is my first Randall for which I supplied the CW handle material, and also my first with this type of wood.

LOL Good luck with that! :D

My mailman is both a hunting and shooting partner - one morning not too long ago, he called to ask if I was gonna be around later, as he had what looked like a knife for me.

Knowing what time he comes by, I was out front 'doing stuff' while patiently waiting. He got me good by honking and waving while driving by without stopping (rat bastid) - I went to get my truck keys so I could hunt him down, but by then he'd backed up with a laugh and smile...

Yes, Buckeye burl is nice - looking forward to seeing pics!

Ahhh, as Jimmy Carter once said (paraphrased) - 'Ah have lusted in mah haht' ;)

Sweet Ken, she turned out really nice! If you don't mind the suggestion; I'd suggest you Renwax and buff the handle a little to get the burl colors to pop out a bit more...

That's a real pretty Randall knife, ya done good.

I have to restrict myself to stuff i can use, that knife i could never do more than fondle, in all honesty :)

Oh, forgive me for failing to mention right off, that is one hell of a good reason to stalk the mailman.

The issue is the lighting and exposure. When I photograph with my usual setup, you'll see the detail and beauty of this handle.

Cool beanz - looking forward to seeing it.
