Hello fellow benders. I have been away from the forums for a while (I had a move, a new job, and other things to keep me busy) and making wallets and other projects to sell.

I wanted to drop some pics of my latest. A quick sheath and knife for a friends child (6). This will be his first blade - so I did a traditional puukko with leather and reindeer antler.

Just wanted to remind you all that I haven't died. ;)

Welcome back! Wondered where ya'd gone. VA it looks like.

Wow, Cali to Virginia! Quite the culture change huh?

Good to see you again. :D

Looks good , I like the Scandinavian style knives. How do you finish the leather handle if you don't mind sharing your method.

Grumpy.

There are a few ways. When I set these I use epoxy that has been thinned some - that tends to give an epoxy impregnated leather. Then I burnish the hell out of them to higher grits of sand paper (up to about 400 or 600 and then I buff them to a high polish on a buffer -and then use Montana Pitch Blend letting it soak in and then buff it back.

I want to leave some grippiness - so I would rather have it FEEL like leather and have it be resealed for time to time.
