A fellow Beckerhead was gracious enough to let me try his 10 out for a couple years (we DID agree on a couple years, right?)
I opened the box in the parking lot of the post office..and immediately KNEW I loved this blade! Great in the hand, perfect size, the 'ramp actually makes sense for it...AWESOME point profile...just an epic WIN Mr. Ethan!
the factory sheaths are sh*tty...even the LE ones! LOL
so I fixed it
It may not be any time soon..but I WILL own one of these! Its perfect...I love the 2, but it is kind of ''clunky''...this 10 is nimble as Roadrunner getting away from Wile Coyote!
Did a lil chop test (i used pine...it's a borrowed knife)
Thats 20 chops with each knife. the Nine didn't do so well, so I did it again with the King..turns out the first time I was using the belly instead of the sweet spot...the second notch with the 9 was almost twice as deep. The 2 and 10 were close...but the 10 felt better chopping...not as much ''THUNK'' in the hand when it hit the wood.
just for kicks (and because it was riding on my belt) I tried the 14 with 20 chops.
Did a lil tiny bit of crossgrain batoning (once again, not gonna whale away on the 10)
The 10 bit in well, maybe the best, but actually the 14 bit in the best, so I guess the 10 was second. The 2 is the worst at this....so thick it kept wanting to bonce out. Thats ten whacks with a pine 2x4
I HAD to do a lil batoning... so I batoned a 2x4 (once again, Pine)
The 2 wins here...hard to beat a 1/4'' wedge LOL...10 and 9 seemed tied, the lil 14 actually does well in batoning smaller stuff.
All the knives threw nice chips (except the 14)
Stab test! (pine, again LOL)
The 10 seems to stabbity stab the best, heck of a point on it!
The happy group basking in the sun after some (semi)hard work
* small review of the KaBar TDI Clip
I like it, after finding a elf-wrench to fit the TINY lil bitty screws!
Strong, tough, well-built...handy on the belt. Just wish it swiveled so u could carry it vertical or horizontal. I would recommend this at the prioce point it is. Nice belt clip.
My name is Clayton...and I approve this knife!
I may get a 7 and turn it into a 7-10 (kinda like a 7-11 but with less robberies) or just pony up and buy one for twice the price they sold for LOL
P.S. I had no bells or whistles. Small bit sad about that.
not really...this knife is FUN!
