I believe the Estwing Black Eagle series has already gone through some revisions...

I recently added both the Estwing Black Eagle series Tomahawk and the Double Bit Axe to my collection of "Man Gadgets". Anyhow, I noticed that my specimens both have a forged in steel reinforcement that the earlier versions don't seem to have.
Here are a few pics I found online of the area I speak of (on the haft area just past the leather or synthetic handle covering).

Early style...

It does not seem like a big change, and I just noticed it today when looking at pics online of other specimens.
It's just a bit of extra metal beyond the covered handle area that has this triangular shaped metal support. It may not be alot of extra steel, but if they added it in, it must improve that area's strength enough to be a worthwhile revision.

I know these have not been out too long (maybe about a year and a half or so)... but early production runs of just about anything, have a period of possible revisions.

Here is a picture of two Black Eagles I found online without the current revision...
