I blame my father for my knife addiction.

My dad is the reason I dig knives so much. He gave me my first knife (and several others). I've always bought knives for my dad for different occasions whenever a present was needed. Recently I bought him a Benchmade Mini-Grip and he loves it. My father is a lefty and didn't care for the original pocket clip so this weekend he came up and I changed his clip out and added a pinky lanyard. I like buying my dad the knives that he carries. He's a good man and has done a lot for me. Plus he's the reason I carry a knife daily. Decided to take a pic of our knives together.

Got my addiction just from seeing knives. Just thought they were cool. My old man took me to a gun show when I was 5. He asked me if I wanted anything. I picked this little coca cola folder that looked like a switchblade. Bright red handles, silver bolsters, Bowie blade. It's been in my blood ever since. My Dad and all of my uncles and a few of my friends just encouraged what the steel did all by itself. (Hook me, and hook me good)

OP, we're not too different, you and I :D

My dad bought me my first SAK when I was a kid, and that's what got me into knives in the first place. He never carried one himself, but just though since I was a boy, I ought to have one. I also gave my dad a mini grip like you did. That was for Father's Day last year. It was his first higher end knife, and for that matter, the first knife he ever edc'd. Now you'll never find him without it

Addictions usually come from your parents, there could be worse things to be hooked on, thank you dad for giving a crap.

I'm not sure if you get it or not. I was just being playful with the title.

I'm sure as a boy there were plenty of knife influences on television, etc. When I was a kid I woke up one morning for school and my dad gave me 4 knives. He gave me two old Case knives that he had bought for me and put up, an old Case Sodbuster Jr. that was my grandfathers, and an old no name knife that he had gotten when he was a kid. I was hooked! :)

My old man always carried a traditional of some kind. Usually a Case or Old Timer. I bought a Kershaw assisted opener in high school and he thought that was the neatest thing so I got him one. He has carried it for years now but has finally wore it out. He needed a new knife and I told him; give me a few days and you'll have something. He loves the Mini-Grip.

My dad wasn't much for knives or the outdoors, but he worked very hard for us.
I have been gifting knives to a few of my life-long friends and to MANY of my relatives, bunches of them.
I try to match the knife to the person's likely use and needs...ladies included.
And...my other favorites to gift are deployed guys and girls...I love the military folks.
...my own version of the Sonnydaze Presidential Library... :) I'm about done. Not bragging; just happy.
The most fun I've ever had...leaving my foot-prints in the sand.

My Dad always carried a pocket knife. I saw the usefulness of having a knife with me at all times and have carried on the tradition.

You and your Dad.... birds of a feather flock together. :D
