Just ordered a UK Penknife from Hennie Haynes.

I checked on it a few months ago, and the total (with shipping) was going to be around $120. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I checked and the exchange rate had improved such that the total was $103 and change. The pound has started to creep back up, and the total today was just over $105.

So I bit. Next week, the U.S. price will probably fall to $80. But I'm not psychic, nor am I a financial guru. I was just happy to save $15.

Looking forward to getting this one. My wife, son, and I are touring Ireland and Britain for a couple of weeks next year, and the UK Penknife will be going along for the ride.

I just ordered two not long ago. Just over $90 each, shipped.
Mid November? That's when the exchange rate was at its absolute best this year.

Hi Guyon,

I also ordered one, just this past Friday (12/2). I received an e-mail from Linda at Heinnie's this morning that it's on its way. I wonder how long it will take.

Let us know when yours arrives.

Ron

Found this old thread.

The UK Penknife has been a mainstay in my pocket lately. I carry it more than any other blade.

Can't wait till the Caly III gets here.

Guyon,If I paid close to $100.00 for a knife and I were going over to the old country,I'd leave it at home and buy a souvineer knife over there. It would be cheaper if confiscated for ANY reason and the souvineer would be a reminder of good times had there.YMMV.tom.;)

That was how it all shook out, though I did still carry a knife. Just a much less expensive knife.

I wound up simply carrying a Vic Climber.

Turned out to be worth its weight in gold. I used the main blades countless times, the scissors quite a lot, and the corkscrew more than once.

Some things have changed since this thread started, for example the UK Pen Knife is available here in the States so exchange rates are not an issue for Americans.

Tell me about it. A UKPK can be had here for about $20 cheaper than I paid.

Speaking of Vics - I just bought a super tinker at Loews in central MA for 50% off - I guess they're not gonna carry them anymore. But for $15, I'm happy - handy thing to have (I have another one, but for $15...)
