Dont ask! Only this one was made and it's all mine
I have heard the Machax will be reappearing someday but I wanted one NOW! Still can hardly wait till the actual is available again! I reached into the steel bin and pulled out a 3/8in thick piece of 5160 and started grinding! It's fugly finished as I intend to beat on it so I didnt clean up too many lines on it and I left the mill scale on the blade flats. I used some black G10 for scales and left em a little rough in finsh for a little texture and cause I was lazy with the sandpaper
I finally got it out to the woods this weekend when the family went out target shooting with friends. We got there early to "reserve" the pit and my Wife was a little chilly so I grabbed the knife and headed towards a brush pile for fuel. Got her a nice warm fire going and a few miles on the blade. It held up fine and I was very happy with it's performance. It is a really great chopper! I did get some very minor edge damage though when I plowed through my old half rotten 2X4 and put the edge into the gravel pretty had but the damage went away with a few file swipes and a touch up on the Sharpmaker. For it's size, I was thinking it might become unwieldly and cause hand fatigue but I didnt have any trouble with it. I took a lot of material off the blade with the full flat/convex grind and I drilled out the tang area a bunch too. it measures 16in overall(straight from point to pommel) and the blade is 11inches long(tip to handle).
