I collected knives when I was younger, not anything good, but bought a bunch of cheap folders and a few fixed blades.
I always liked knives and find them very useful and could not stop buying them. After a bunch of my cheap flea market blades fell apart I sold most of my cheap ones on Craigslist. Recently I found this forum and fell in love with knives people talked about. Doesn't matter the price range, as long as the knife is well made. After reading here I ended up buying 6 folders.
HK ally
Opinel
Ontario Utilitac
Kabar Mule
Benchmade 710
Benchmade 950(rift)

The only one I got to carry so far was the ally, as that and the mule came first. To be honest the mule is way to big for a EDC. But the Ally is amazingly small and light. Fights perfect into any pocket. And the glass breaker is perfect for popping the vent on a miller lite can.

I look to test the rest of the knives out this week, and hopefully soon get and Esee 3 and 4.
Let me know what you guys think of my small collection.

I'm sorry you were only able to buy 6 this week. But keep your hopes up. Next week may be better.

I only bought 3 in the last week, & now im $1250.00 lighter......

Thats not a bad start , I have or have had All the knives you bought except the Mule, and I,ll eventually get one of them.
I,m starting to really like opinel,s after I saw some custom carved ones.

The mule came very sharp out of the box. The only problem is it isn't the smoothest opening knife, would take either two hands or a hard wrist flip. And it is quite big.

Nice pile. I also had an expensive week. Fun waiting for the mail to arrive, though :D

Is there a Mrs. Shorty? If so, you know you have reached knife nirvana when you have so many knives in your possession that Mrs. Shorty can't tell when you have bought another one because they all look the same to her. "No, honey. I've had this Cold Steel Voyager XL for a long time. It just looks new to you for some reason." This magical line of demarcation is called the Powernoodle Event Horizon, and it should be the goal of every married knife enthusiast.

There is a girlfriend, who will become Mrs. Shorty. Luckily she likes knives as well, just thinks I am crazy for paying so much for them.

Very nice! Let's us know after you get to carry each new knife for a while if one stands out to you as a personal favorite (one you'll carry more often than the others) and why? Curious if what you think is your favorite now compares to what it really turns out to be. Enjoy!

I'm not sure if I should be proud or ashamed, but I have achieved the Powernoodle Event Horizon. Never thought of it before, but the transition warrants a title for legitamacy, or to aptly codify it. Thanks Powernoodle for your insight, and clarity.

You've got good taste. Good to see you even picked up an Opinel, everybody needs one of those IMHO, regardless of how many knives you own.

This is bfc. We're all about encouraging and enabling knife addicts. :D:thumbup:

I'm curious. What was the draw to these particular knives individually?
I only ask because I get the impression that you'd prefer to EDC smaller knives. However you spent the most $$ on larger folders.

I bought 3 knives a couple weeks ago, it set me back $255. 2 Spyderco Mule Team 18's bought at separate times (if I did it at once I could have saved $24 on shipping :grumpy:) and a Kershaw Skyline Damascus. It has crossed my mind to sell one of the Spyderco's to buy more of those skylines, their awesome . Looks cool, perfect grip, love the finger grover and flipper acting as an guard, opens easily, perfect centering on the blade, etc. I feel like I ripped Kershaw and kershawguy off buying it for $52.

And a little trick a learned about knife buying, buy them one at a time to force yourself to carry them and learn what you like and dislike out of them. I bought 4 knives at once before for EDC, and I carried the one I thought would be my favorite once, two others only a handful of times and the one I thought I wouldn't like is now one of my favorite EDC's due to it being so small/light while still being useful (Wenger Patriot).

Hmm...I notice a big hole in that picture where a mitt-full of spydercos should be laying. Try jumping on THAT train. I'm sure that will slow things down for you. :rolleyes:Hehehe

Nice collection. I know exactly how you feel. After discovering BF I have found myself adding to my collection. Oh, a word of advice. Do NOT read any posts about flashlights!:)

You probably want to stay away from the Traditional sub-form too.-KV

Eh I love my current flashlight. Nitecore EC25.
I know it isn't the best but I would say it is better than most people have.
