I had been searching for a camp/survival knife for a few months. I was looking for something with at least a 5" blade. The knives I settled on were, the Becker BK2, the Ontario Afghan, and the ESEE 5. The Afghan quickly fell out of the running because it lacked and extended pommel and lanyard hole. I was able to handle both the BK2 and the ESEE 5 side by side and compare the two. The ESEE is a fine knife the fit and finish is excellent, awesome Kydex sheath and no questions asked warrantee. Now for the BK2 fit and finish is excellent, awesome composite/glass filled nylon sheath and from my research KA-BAR will replace it as long as you didn't blow it up with dynamite. Now I had to look at price, ESEE 5 $150.00 +- and the BK2 $60.00 +-. In this economy and on my limited budget I went with the BK2. I don't want anyone to think that I made a compromise, rather what i made IMO was and informed decision. I thought the BK2 felt a little better in my hand and I fell in love.
A little cord wrap, about 12'
The sheath was a little to tight for my taste, so I loosened it up a bit. Retention is still just as good and my thumb thanks me.
