I saw a good deal on an older Kabar BK3 I couldn't pass up. I really like this sheath and have been watching for this exact one to come up for sale at a good price. It had spray painted grivory on it. Does not bother me, I love project Beckers. I removed the paint and cleaned it up..so I can get it dirty.

Congrats Mauz. I saw that you had purchased that.

Congrats. Nice job on the overhaul. That is the only Becker I don't have. What are your overall impressions of the blade?

Thanks.

Ive had it for 2 days so I have only used it briefly. Being a good deal and one of the few Becker's I don't have were really the only reason I bought it. I beat on some logs with it just to see. It didn't chop that great. It does not bite in like a regular blade. It wants to smash things more than chop. Definitely makes you feel like you can destroy anything you want.

I need to use it more to make up my mind about it but it will probably end up living in my truck as an emergency tool. I would like to attack a fatwood stump with it though. I bet I could really pry one apart.

i like that sheath, but beware, it can shatter under great stress or cold.

probably should get a new one from KaBar, but i got a great deal on SpecOps, and "don't care"...

except i care.

I have a SpecOps for the BK3 as well. I keep the 3 in my go bag as in an urban situation, I want to be able to use it as my "keys to the kingdom."

I've had my 3 for almost a year now. Such a great tool! Definitely not a chopper, like you said, but it's been great for yard and demo work.

Congrats Mauser, the BK-3 is one of my favourite blades. A lot of times I'll take the 3 instead of the 4 (my absolute favourite knife) when out in the woods, due to the versatility and indestructability. As far as a chopper goes, it will chop ok. I don't have to chop a lot of things, normally, anyway. And if I do, the 3 will do the job.

In case you haven't seen it, my take on the BK-3: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/895605-To-B(K-3)-or-not-to-B(K-3)-that-is-the-question?highlight=nobler

If the rigid sheath is a problem, the BK3 will fit snugly inside the factory BK7 sheath, without being so snug it can't be drawn.

Its a nice grab. For a steel club/prybar. I certainly hope that I don't ever HAVE to use mine.

It seriously dissapears on a scout carried tek lok.

I'm eventually going to grind away the serrations and make it a nice slicey "small stuff too" kind of blade.

Once I find time to do stuff again. Babies are WORK!

HAHA! Nice score dude. Nice score!

We recently picked one up for the camp tool box. Versatile. Splitting for the fire is a breeze.
