I bought a Grand Napoleon

It's one of Bura's 36" / 29 oz. versions. I got it unopposed from "that auction site" for about what they went for new. However, the postings I've read indicate that the long version is fairly rare, and I haven't seen one in a while so I went for it.

I also picked up some AKs from the Exchange last week. Gravertom had four H.I.s up for sale. I picked up a 16.5" Villager Chiruwa AK for $65 and an unused 12" AK for $45. Afterward, he said that he was going to include a user 12" AK that has some sheath damage gratis. I'm looking forward to receiving them; I've got other H.I. knives and swords, but these will be my first AK models, I couldn't believe that they remained available for days; was everybody focused elsewhere, tapped out, or what?

Personally, I think that splitting off the Busse individual "for sale" sub-forum has probably hurt the non-Busse side sales, but I don't know that for a fact.

Sounds like you landed yourself a lot of blade for a little money. That's always a good thing:) Gravertom is one of the good guys, isn't he? We're lucky to have him around.

I've always been fascinated by those Napoleon swords, but I've never handled one. Does anybody know if those vids of Dave chopping stuff up with his are still available somewhere?

The only reason that I hesitated on the Napoleon was the thread where Kazeryu showed and described how his got mangled in shipping. It made me wonder how sturdy they were.

Heh, I associate that thread with the Napolean Sword these days. We'll never know for SURE what happened, but seems like someone was dead set on destroying the thing.

- your Grand Napoleon is said to be one of 5 or less to be made... with three known to the forum.

My last desktop failed somewhat catastrophically last year and not everything survived. I recovered some data but I don't remember seeing those in particular. I haven't yet sorted through everything yet but they were probably lost.

As for the five Grand Napoleons, I know where two are. ;)

Thanks for the link on the busted sword... man thats sick... and its not a thin sword to bend...

-I just shared the link with your shipper (TMITM), and he is not too worried, as the sword is packed like a tank, surrounded by padding, and tacked to a broomstick just longer than the sword, to ensure that the sharp sheath does not protrude... and adding even more bend protection...

Excellent, thanks for following up on that. It sounds like he did a really good job packing it.

I received the package from Gravertom. He said that the 16.5" Villager Chiruwa AK's grips had been re-profiled and could use a little refinishing; they were a little rough, but not too bad out of the box. I spent about 10 minutes with a pad of 000 steel wool and they're comfy-fine now. Both of the 12" AK's feel (surprisingly) good. I have a Dhankuta, which I consider more as art than knife, so I wasn't sure that a 12" khukuri would be particularly real-world useful, but they've got well-sized grips and enough heft that they could sub for a hatchet and be quite versatile. I need to go leave a +1 for Gravertom in the GBU sub-forum; I'm not sure how much difference it makes to others, but I look there for some history before buying from anybody, and he certainly did very well by me.
