Hi, I just joined but I've been reading posts & reviews here for awhile...

I just made my first high dollar knife purchase and sadly, it's not for me... it's for my uncle who is retiring.
It's a Busse Hell Razor. The guy said it's "jungle camo" finish and has snake skin micarta handles.
It's a used, but new condition knife with just a few minor imperfections.
I don't know much about them, but I do know Busse is a top knife maker and I know my uncle will enjoy it.

Anything you guys can tell me about it would be great.
The guy said the snake skin grip panels were only made in one production run and are rare. true?
Also wondering how many were made, is it collectable, etc...

Thanks!

I've heard that about the snake skin handles...that it was a mistake that they've been unable to duplicate, older hogs will be able to clarify this.
As far as the knife: Absolutely terrible! You do not want this one... I'm in the business of relieving people of their terrible knives. I heard that this knife in particular is cursed....You'd better sell it to me right away before you become tainted....seriously.
Just Kidding...great knife, great handle scales.

Snakeskin handles are not going to be reproduced. Combine that with the camo finish, and it is a great snag.

$400 is not a bad price for an HR with snakeskin.

Most importantly, it is a heck of a user. He can use it hard and never be concerned!

That is a great buy for the combo of Snake/Camo. Collectible-YES, usable-YES. The snake grips are fantastic looking and as to being a mistake, I haven't heard that part but who cares. IT WON'T BE MADE AGAIN!!! Congrats and your Uncle is a VERY lucky man.

This is a quote from the Busse website:
"The Elusive Snakeskin
The Snakeskin micarta handles were discovered accidentally and cannot be duplicated. Not only have we tried to duplicate this unusual layered look with several different manufacturers who claimed that duplication would not be a problem, but several other knife manufacturers have tried quite unsuccessfully to duplicate it as well. Once our supply is used up, the Busse Combat original Snake Skin micarta will not be an available again."

Any idea of production numbers of snake skin Hell Razors?
Is the Jungle Camo a standard or custom order finish?
Seems to me that it's not a combo they would produce a mass amount of, but I'm still learning.
Being that it's a gift, I'd like to tell him as much about it as I can.

thanks!

no idea about production #s. I think the camo was a finish option at extra charge. I read this about other knives. I am unsure though, so don't quote a newb like me.

How do I know if this knife has standard or Magnum grips?
The grips on this knife are not quite flat.
There area between the rivets is slightly lower (1/16 of an inch dip, maybe a hair more).

I need to know so I order the right sheath.
thanks!

Busse never released production numbers on their knives, so hard telling how many were made, but it's an older knife (and Busse only makes a knife run once), so....

Camo is usually never a standard option, usually a ganza special, show special, or special order. I've not looked into Hell Razors that much, but I can say I've never seen another like that one.

With that snakeskin, more than likely you have standard scales.

Damn, that is one sexy looking knife

fairly common model that can still be had at some of the shows just maybe not in that particular color combo. Usually magnum scales have a palm swell in them.
