I purchased my first fancy pants switchblade OTF knife online today,

Microtech Dirac Delta.

It hasn’t arrived yet. I just hope I get my $350 bucks worth. I am a Spyderco guy at heart, and I mainly just wanted to try something different, and Spyderco is the only knife brand I have owned in my life!

I was considering a Benchmade infidel. But I read the Microtech was better quality for around the same money.

This is what I bought in the photo, and I purchased it directly from PVK Vegas as well.

Microtech is made in N.C. where I live. Other than that, I’ve heard great things about design and build quality. And some bad things about Customer Support issues. But Benchmade apparently has quality control issues, but good customer service? The decision was easy.

First off, congrats! I have owned a few Microtechs including an ultra tech (which I still own) and an LUDT which I had to send in b/c the clip fell off. To send it back you just have to call and get a return number and make sure it’s on EVERYTHING. But I had an overall good experience (besides the pocket clip falling off to start with) but I ended up selling the LUDT. To slick in the hand and never really was my cup of tea. The ultra tech is addictingly fun though. Hope you enjoy it!

I've got an ludt and a socom elite. Very nice knives but have never had to return anything so can't speak for customer service. Would love one of their otfs but other things keep catching my eye.

Just a personal experience/thought, but... If you’re about to graduate from the Spyderco level and into more costly folders, I’d suggest moving straight into the CRK/Shiro level. I didn’t make that jump clean, so I ended up with another half-dozen intermediate folders that now get no pocket time. I know we have a robust community of BM loyalists here at BF, but my experience was that BM is just a siding on the RR line that leads to CRKs, Shiros and beyond.

That being said and I know nothing about Microtechs, but that auto looks really sweet. Sadly for me, I’m in a state where autos are illegal and as frowned upon by cops and judges as RPGs, landmines and SAMs.

I’ve got a pink utx-85. OTF knives scare the heck out of everyone but it gets a lot of pocket time. I think you will be pleased with the fit and finish. It’s so convenient and I see from the pic it has the same great trigger. High quality stuff.

I own a wicked edge guided system. So, hopefully this dagger blade will be fairly easy to sharpen my self. I would never attempt to do so otherwise.

Nice score OP! I picked up the same model when they came out and it's worked flawlessly so far. I've been a Microtech fan since my father got a little obsessed with collecting them in the mid to late 90's - he has cabinets full last I checked haha. I don't think I've ever had a functional issue with one honestly. Enjoy the Dirac!

That is awesome. Yea the Dirac Delta with CTS204P at only $350 seems like a steal to me. I am seriously scratching my head at the Benchmade Infidel D2 steel at $425 lol?

It was all easy from there, to go Microtech for sure.

I will probably add a Microtech standard Dirac with my Delta Dirac.

Nice! I've been telling myself to get a switch since MI changed the laws in '17 or '18. We can't carry OTF blades but the standard? switch blade deployment is legal now.

That's a nice looking knife

I've had one on my BladeHQ wishlist for a while. I'll bite the bullet eventually. I have a Protech TR-4 so my auto bug is satisfied for the time being. Hope its everything you want it to be.

Nice knife!

I've got 3 Microtech autos -- Halo V, Stitch and Socom -- and like them all very much.

Had a UTX-80 OTF but sold it because it was too small but I'd consider buying the Dirac Delta w/it's 3.75" blade.

Gotta put it on my wish list now. ;)

My Microtech Dirac Delta S/N 068 built this month wow lol 07-2019 finally arrived! Quality is the best I’ve ever seen in manufacturing, in my life. It is for sure the coolest tool I own now!

My first ever OTF, my first ever Microtech, and anyone who believes that Microtech will void your warranty from sharpening your own knife is WRONG, and you need to read the manual carefully again.

“ Microtech quotes Incorrectly sharpening or damaging your blade due to negligence will Void your warranty”

Not a single drop of buyer remorse here guys, and I am more or so enthralled with how well built, and cool, and functional this knife really is! I want another Microtech.

got a Dirac delta proof run sn 63 available!

That's a bit shady. Who's to say what correct sharpening is?

But, cool knife anyway :)

I own a Wicked Edge guided sharpening setup. So my edges look factory, and are sharper than factory.

All I’m getting at is, people are spreading rumors all over google that if you sharpen or touch up your edge on a microtech knife, it will void the warranty.

^ this is false.

I am certain I could find you a picture of improper sharpening on google somewhere. Possibly a broken tip, ugly bevels that were grounded on with rocks Rambo style.
